Less exposure until it's not a hot mess sounds like a genius idea.
Okay... Thats not what you said nor suggested though...
'how to' content has been around long before Odyssey. Unless you're saying that ED's always been a hot mess, then I agree... But that would make it all the more crucial to continue to expose it to potentially new players. Any damage done by doing so is entirely self inflicted by ED itself, but with out new blood
any game will die out.
And I'd like to point out that the nature of these 'how to' guides isnt their fault either. The fact that that to accomplish anything demands that you, repeatedly, for an exorbitant amount of time perform the same braindead simple repeated actions. Couple with the fact that some of these tasks are completely disjointed from other tasks exacerbates the issue. They're not part of any core game loop. You either pursuing them, or you're not... No trader/miner/bounty hunter is likely to
ever stumble on a guardian site for example. The whole burnout from grinding 'how to' videos is a symptom of a much larger problem ED suffers from as a whole.
Last, I'd like to propose a question:
'How To' guides arnt the only content that creators make. Hell, it's not even the majority. And many are even trying to desperately validate it. So, knowing Odyssey isnt part of a free update (meaning people arnt going to just be returning out of curiosity to check it out, but have to actively buy into it)... Do you honestly think it would do ED, and Frontier as a whole, any favors if people had no choice but to blindly walk into it? If their trusted content creators just didnt bother showing it for what it was? Only
then to find out the state of the game... How well do you think
that would go over?
