Business as usual.well this conversation derailed pretty quickly
Person 1 to person 2: Hey, do you want to come walking with me? I could do with the exercise and it would be good to have some company..
Or... Person 1 to person 2: Look at you, you fat disgusting slob, you remind me of a whale, be gone from my sight... Hey everyone, look at this fat slob over here!
Person 1... was it something I said? I guess they just can't handle the truth...
lol, after all the anguish and pearl clutching, if the cap fits I say. Of course, we can all discuss this like adults but as the saying goes ' they don't like it up 'em Mr Mannering 'That's exactly the kind of idiotic non sequitur I'm talking about."Bedwetters", huh?

FWIW, I don't think Yamiks does this. He can be forceful in his language at times, and often sounds exasperated (some of which is for 'comedic' effect), but he is still just being honest about his opinion. Agree or disagree, that's up to you. But he often makes pertinent points IMO... and it always comes from a love of the game and wanting it to be better than it is.
Youtube, like Twitch, like Facebook, Twitter, this forum, etc all work in the same conformational bias way. That's why it's really useful to expose yourself to as many diverse opinions and points of view that you can. Even stuff you wildly disagree with. I certainly don't always agree with Yamiks, or Ant, or The Pilot, etc but they're all capable of making good points and I watch/listen to them all. I don't need to be told what to think, and everyone's opinion is valid.
Same as here. I don't agree with many of the opinions expressed on here, but again, that's the entire point.
The irony is of course that these same people are more aptly described as white knighting for Yamiks or this person or that because they think they're in the 'in crowd'.Look at the responses on forums showing EDO in a little bit of positive light, it gets swarmed with the "White knight" "Shill" "Sellout" comments from all of those who seek to be part of the like minded crowd of hate this or hate that, it is no different than many of the Youtube personalities you will see on a range of topics. Someone disagrees with the creators opinion and it becomes a shark attack.

The problem is that easily influenced people will take a content creators word as gospel simply because of their platform and amount of subscribers they have. Which simply due to the prominence of social media has caused the amount of people in this category to grow. Slightly OT but that avatar makes me laugh every time I see itIndeed, which is why I absolutely loathe the term 'influencer'. They're content creators. Entertainers, even. Small business owners. Whatever.
But not influencer because that implies your POV will be influenced by them. Got to be more strong minded than that.![]()

Fox news is influencing a ton of people, but I think they are complete idiots driven by greed and propaganda and would be more likely to trust the doom cultist down the corner of the street than them.Indeed, which is why I absolutely loathe the term 'influencer'. I can take it or leave it personally, I've liked some of his videos, but it says something when he goes all crybaby over FDev not wanting to include him. Although, I guess the drama is good for clicks.Perhaps that is an account of his style that is somewhat hyperbolic?
Aside from Yamiks' brusque/direct/offensive/rough hewn* manner,
does he have valid concerns, or is it merely a laundry list of opprobrium?

It sounds like you were influenced by CNN!Fox news is influencing a ton of people, but I think they are complete idiots driven by greed and propaganda and would be more likely to trust the doom cultist down the corner of the street than them.
What you think is not how everyone think.
I draw the distinction between people like OA, who is more a content creator, and some of the biggest youtuber around, which are influencer. OA is passionate and don't really care about selling a product. Others are in a business. People like Cohhcarnage have several employees working for him. It's a brand. As with every brand, you need to do what's selling, and less what you want.
Doesn't mean they are all bad, but you have to remember they are a brand. As with all brand, you have the more honest one, and the less.
Fun fact, I don't watch either. I'm enough self aware to know they all have an agenda. Some more obvious than others. It sounds like you were influenced by CNN!
The largest part of that which I cant wrap my head around is how some of these people (which you are correct they are a small business) can demonize a company in such ways as to attempt to turn public opinion of them for creating a product that people purchase. Yes the product may be a lemon, it may need some polish or it may be the best thing since Betty White, but they are the first to complain when one of their videos is demonetized and can't turn a profit from their 'product', let alone throw out ways for people to donate more money to them for their opinions. So far as the 'influencer' aspect, that is how many see and label themselves. They know that they can influence their viewers so they do so. War Thunder is a great example of this, the 'influencers' (lets be honest, content creators at best) will tell people that they shouldn't support the developer by purchasing this or that then immediately follow it up with a link to their donations page.
He is a major content creator for ED. The others had free odyssey key, he didn't. Obviously because Fdev didn't want his cynical videos, and were looking for marketing instead.Include him?
Is he a Founder?
If he has history with the franchise, then one could argue he's on more solid ground.

Every game distribute free keys and packages to influencers. Nothing new there.
Also, there is a certain irony when, post release, some of the others youtuber came to HIS stream to basically bash Fdev.
"I don't think advising people NOT to buy Odyssey at this point is bad advice ..."
i for one will not be downloading the content (even though I've a seasons pass), simply because my hardware still struggles to run vanilla ED
above minimum everything, so you won't see me on EDO for at least a year.
OTOH, A point some miss is that some players have to take one for the team and be early adopters,
so game or product devs can rely on their bug reports/feedback/crash telemetry, and so on.
Someone has to suffer the early version, so Yamiks is being overly harsh.
It's lovely to get a stable bug free title on release - but if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
