If people keep admitting defeat like this, we may have this planet generation forever, that's too much loss, imo. I think they could easily disable the odyssey button, just say 'freeze guys, nothing will be lost, we'll re-enable it when it's not disgustingly broken and also breaks horizons'. I think it's feasible and I think it would bring back players.

Played in my 5x PA 2x Rail Vette a few days ago and the only thing I noticed that was wrong with the PAs is how the shots looked. And that I was out of practice...
The stuff that the PvP community (like yourself) sneer at, obviously.
All of the ground (foot based) activities, bar shooting plants, have interesting gameplay...
You can call me a liar, of course, I'm used to it from the forum.

Plenty of us been doing that too. It's a buggy mess with repetitive gameplay loops and no progression beyond repeating those loops more easily.
A bit like ED PvP then, pointless?

OK, so you like the new foot based stuff, I think some of it is ok, I don't like how unforgiving the mission failure model is, I don't like that I can get grade 3 access anywhere trivially cos an npc always walks past a certain window in each base type, I don't like the weapons much, they aren't very satisfying, but that should be easy to improve. I see that there's some promise there though, it's a very undeveloped part of the game at the moment, I hope you'd agree, and I'm sure they will add more to it. Hell, they still need to optimise it properly.
Do you accept that other people play the game in a wider way? and that adding niche on foot stuff, probably wasn't worth breaking the entire rest of the game? Just a thought...

Most people on this forum don't use plasma accelerators, so they wouldn't know how ridiculous trying to use them now is. I think you already know that.
There is a silver lining to this Odyssey debacle though, and that is more Commanders are realizing that Elite Dangerous development is not the focus of Frontier Developments anymore. That Frontier is about corporate growth. That out- sourcing is favored over core designer retention. That Frontier knows full well what the majority of the player base would like, but does not listen and gives us a mediocre first person shooter instead. That Frontier falsely advertises a DLC as finished when it is early access. That Frontier uses and abuses our good will by having us test the game and charging us for it. That Frontier does not actually tell us its Actual Roadmap because it would probably crush many of our souls.
I have over 5000 hours in this game and played it for hours every day from August 2017 until May 16, 2021.

His thinking that progression will not be lost is just ignorant.... trying to blend two snapshots while horizons legacy starts to progress again and keeping all we have already done in odyssey will create programming CHAOS .. maybe worse than the bugs
I suppose you are aware that most games and in fact most applications, consist of an application part, and a database part. There is no need to lose any data when rolling an application version forward or back, but please feel free to carry on banging your head against this wall.

I'm sorry but the only ignorance on display here is from you and that koma dude, just desperately trying to trip me up. It's sad, please stop. I am an applications integrator for my day job, I work with bigger and more complex databases and applications than elite, I manage their data management, updates and rollbacks (never needed a rollback in my tenure, ever, cos I do my job properly).
It's snot just that... they were missing by a country mile and the reticule was totally disconnected from reality wandering off on it's own littel jaunt regardless of the ships vector.. also i could be wrong but it looked like there was some crazy reverski goin on despite them both saying they were trying to boost towards each other and close the gap.. weird as hell.
Edit: sorry was meant to put in the quote to they guy i was talkin to lol - someone was commenting on how bad the PAs looked, hopefully that goes back to normal after they fix the lighting!
