Obviously that photo was taken in odyssey ... the client viewing Brabus doesn't see the walls surrounding him due to them clipping out of the rendering. If only we had moved our head slightly so the camera was facing a different direction it would have all been clear why he can't see the fire.

Also, the fire is killing the framerate so he could have noticed it and is just waiting for his incredulous input to be reflected on screen.
