Hi Sally. Could your team solve the bug where you can’t revert to Drake Class layout once you’ve chosen any of the other fleet carrier layouts? The only workaround is to decommission, wait a week, and lose 150million credits in the process. Thanks!
 
I am impressed once again at the sheer number, and transparency of these updates. ALSO, thank you for lowering the Opinion Polls to 20!
 
This sounds like an improvement, but it's a bit disappointing to look at the Rendering bug fixes week after week and only see these kinds of workarounds to the rendering issues instead of the engine devs addressing the root cause.

The problem isn't the brightness or darkness of individual components of the scene, it's an incorrect rendering pipeline that is losing information about bright/dark light. Think of it like using a camera in the wrong exposure setting (ISO/shutter speed); but in this case it's losing information both in underexposed and overexposed cases (likely incorrect HDR).
Haven`t they said quite a few times now that the planet terrain and lighting tech are getting a longer parallel investigation not related to these weekly patches?

Yes please... and if I remember correctly that issue didn't even require a client upgrade, I seem to recall it was introduced as part of the FC items sale back at the beginning of the year.
 
Settlements (new for Odyssey)
  • A fix has been implemented to bring a slightly floating terminal in an Outpost Concourse back down to its rightful position at ground level.
  • A fix has been implemented for a LOD on a sloped wall piece.
  • FUI screens added to Settlement lobby.
Oh boy! Just what I wanted: FUI screens! After all: GUI screens are so ED: Beyond! :D
 
This sounds good. Now I just need to wait for the actual patch to happen ... so far I'm unable to convince the launcher there's a new version to download.
 
Genuinely excellent progress! As usual the people in the trenches deserve the most credit, and compensation.

We still need clear information on what the plan is with Smear Campaign plans and how you intend to support commanders outside the bubble.
There are carriers everywhere and they can provide proper suits to remote commanders as soon as the FC assets are updated. Think of the livery you could sell for the FC interiors.

I unfortunately have missed any mentions of the renderer lighting specifically being addressed, at least in clear enough terms that it gives me confidence that they are addressing the correct problem rather than another palliative solution. It'd be nice to know that they're trying to fix the correct thing, even if they don't know when it'll be delivered yet.
