Hi Sally.. Please just read. I have noticed that there's a flood of different types of messages from the community regarding the patch. Can you please put sub folders in place for patch specific issues and one patch specific questions and finally one for suggestions. And in the next update put in the notes the priority these will be dealt with. Thank you for all your efforts.
Pete

After getting an orange sidewinder trying to enter the game, the textures on my ship in the menu screen stayed low-res, I couldn't access any game extras (just didn't react to the click) and exiting the game left it stuck on a black screen and needed to be finished off by the task manager.

I had problems launching the game after Steam patched it. Checking Gamefiles from within the launcher triggered some downloads. to me, this looks like some files were missing/not updated via steam? Just wanted to add this, cause it helped me. Can play now.

exact same here

Not sure what to do now. Having wasted most of the morning doing missions which have now been lost with the server reset I don't want to risk wasting any more time if they do another one to fix something else.

I can basically 100% GUARANTEE you that it wont run as smooth as horizon in 6 month, in 12 month or more... so like never.
Due to the nature of the new graphics engine and the "wanted" changes to the looks of the game (planets, lightning etc..) it will always be more resource hungry than horizon is.
So the only thing you can pray for is prices dropping for graphics cards in the next 6 month so you can afford a better one...
Yup. Horizons will be downgraded, sadly. People will get all Odyssey cons and get no Odyssey pros. I'm expecting huge community uproar next fall.

I verified the game files in the elite launcher (which steam launches after clicking play) and it seems to want to download the patch from today again over the elite launcher. Maybe steam doesn't install Update 4 and thats why we can't access the game.

Gonna give this a try

Same. And happens consistently every time. I hope this helps the devs pin down the issue

Yes it is, I got back in and mine were all failed. I had an hour and a half (ish) left when servers went down for weekly reset...And due to serer issues mine are all failed now
As unfortunate as this is for the lost time that you've put in, this is precisely why the maintenance window is set at a consistent time of day on the same day of the week.

The recent practice of installing updates at this time is no bad thing either (the servers have just completed a maintenance cycle), but any issues may run on as they have here. Perhaps the lesson to take away is to have all your time sensitive missions completed before a patch/maintenance cycle is started. That at least is under your control.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, manage your risks.
