Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 4

are you saying that just updating an xml file restores the clouds ???

Can you post the updates? I have never done this.
It has galmap section, it has 3 presets low/mid/high which is loaded when u select in-game mid/low/high. So "high" one has 0.0 multiplier for dust, which effectively removes it. In horizons i did there like 0.0001 so dust cannot be complete removed.
Galmap section also does skybox. Same config for both.

Well, I have to admit to being extremely frustrated by this turn of events, this was our last chance to get bug reports in before the ‘final’ Update 5.

Now the opportunity is lost due to a borked patch deployment, the connecting issues will be fixed in short order, the bugs however will be left.

Thanks for this large update. I instantly tried it out on my good old hardware (GF 1070, 1920x1080) during a Frontline battle and it worked great. Also in social areas I never got below 40 fps.

Nope, still Orange SW
Have you applied configuration with force update parameter?
Another possible workaround - slightly modify FORC-FDEV-DO-1000/VersionInfo.txt in "version" number, it will force it to re-fetch files.

did you try right clicking in the same area anyway as where you saw my email address? it could be that the steam login name (it should say your real name for steam login - as opposed to email address for when you use another login) is just the wrong font color / unavailable font ... but it's still there.
On linux there is big issue in .NET Framework and it's webview, so controls are broken :D

And when do you already do the external view of the VR Camera properly ?????
You can't rotate the camera around the ship or remove anything !!!
Many people play in VR goggles!
Outrageous!!

Nothing there, only regular browser menu like set wallpaper.

Noting that other have had success with Verifying Game Files from the Launcher as a fix for Orange Sidewinders.

I play via GeForce Now, and the menu items on the ED Launcher do not function (seems they require Javascript and GFN doesn't have Javascript enabled). So I'm stuck & unable to try that fix. Anything that can be done from Feds end to force a verify for GFN users?
I'm in the same boat, still Orange sidewinder when trying start Odyssey. I tested base game and it let me log in, however it didn't solve Odyssey issue (still Orange sidewinder). Please try also contact nVidia support about this issue either via feedback button in GFN launcher or via theirs support pages.

@sallymorganmoore we cannot validate game files via game launcher, GFN have this functionality disabled.

Not most of the controls. only some of the dropdowns that are part of the webpage. you dont need those though because there are native .net controls in the window frame.

that all works fine in the latest proton. Plus, what works and doesn't work is really dependent on the specific version of proton / wine you are using. there's no general "linux" state to what works and doesn't you can really apply to running windows stuff in linux.

I want to report an issue but it seems that the tracker is broken. I always get the message Issue Tracker error.PNG

interesting... but if you're not changing your login to something other than what you use right out of steam, then you dont need to dive into that menu anyway.

rainbow sidewinders and cobras and all of that when running the game are Fdev problems on the server side. nothing you can do about on your end but wait until they fix issues or the networking issues fix themselves.

and if you're using the steam login to play, updates to the game should occur thru steam using their normal game update mechanism, rather than thru the launcher. So there should be nothing to "update".

You only need the launcher to update the game if the login you're using that has access to odyssey is not your steam login.

well, time to re-check. Last year I playing with native wine runtime and dxvk, haven't checked how steam/proton is now.

today's OS are about steam-provisioned update, and is gone when update downloading by standalone launcher itself.

I just noticed if I turn Gamma all the way up in the graphics options, all the dust is back and it pretty much looks just like Horizons. Not sure what's going on here, if this is a new development after the latest update or was this always the case. Is gamma simply set too low in the game?

Both are fine, playing both ways. Mess happens when need to run some .NET tools, like for skyrim modding. That takes forever to manage.
I have no idea why people keep using that .net crap instead normal stable Java. I wrote some programs in 2000 on Windows NT and it still working today without pain on Linux.

@Z°Ha°Dum ,
Did you possibly see Ozric's post earlier in the thread? This may be your issue...
Did you by any chance edit the title in step 2, when it is showing you options for similar issues? If you do anything on that stage, then it misses the Hardware section in step 3 and the issue cannot be completed in step 4.
