Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Some streamers like cobratv_sc exactly match your imagined caricature, but others do not. :)
I don't watch streamers at all...bar the expurgated blooper clips you keep posting on here. I play the game that's available, bugs and all but still manage to generally enjoy the experience...same as I do with Odyssey. As much as I'm content to bad mouth Ci¬G and SC on here when they deserve such attention, I don't bad mouth Odyssey or FDev anywhere on this forum....EDO is what it is for better or worse.

I'm just as much an FDev fanboi as you appear to be ;)

It may be an offensive topic for you...but some folks play and enjoy both :)
Not offensive, as we've explained. Just not relevant.

Some streamers are just regular people giving their opinions. And since they play Star Citizen a lot, it is relevant.

What I took from that video? The introduction of personal player insurance :cautious:
I think Player Insurance is more scope creep, it's the first time I've heard of it anyway. There's no mention in the Death Of A Spaceman or Healing Your Spaceman design documents

Not to me, perhaps to you since you seem to be the one persistently making irrelevant comparisons between both games and the developers :D

Game streamers, especially on Twitch, are plying for both viewers and financial gain...nothing more. I prefer the opinion of folks less financially incentivised to give it...no matter the game or topic. That said, I subscribe to Obsidian Ant (on YouTube) since he covers two of my favourite games in an informative and more neutral sense...plus... he's Obsidian Ant :D

It's something else being monetised, or potentially so.

I mean, if the other ex-Origin guy with a heavily-monetized Kickstarter (Richard Garriott) implemented a tax system for his game, why wouldn't his buddy from back in the day do something similar? I can't wait to see what they do with land claims.
Fair point, I just keep wondering how much more they're going to cram into this game. Will I have to take a dump, shave my legs, brush my teeth, and take a shower before I can fire up the cockpit and get my ship running so I can get to the planetary tax bureau before the due date and have to file for an extension? Christ.

For Elite Dangerous, I love Obsidian Ant. He's very good at breaking things down into an easy to digest format.

For Star Citizen, it's SuperMacBrother. He's another really nice guy who always does a great job summing up new features on the map, laying out progress, and giving people an idea on what to expect with the game going forward.

Yes, and don't forget the health insurance and writing your last will and testament.

Wasn't there talk at some point about NPCs reacting to players based on their hygiene?

I mean, if I wanted everything the backers are theorycrafting to gatekeep actual gameplay, I'd just fire up the old Infocom game, Bureaucracy.

3.14 patch notes

Hold on! They've gone and added a planet without having to remove something else?!!!!

My gods! The crazy guys have really gone above and beyond this time! Everyone celebrate!

...are plying for both viewers and financial gain...
Which is exactly why their criticism is so relevant. It's not what their audience wants to hear.

On the other hand, "I'm having fun" does not distinguish between a real project and a confidence scam. So it's not relevant.

Obsidian Ant is too milquetoast to handle a scandal like Star Citizen.

The planet was already there. :) The new planet and moon count stands at zero since April 2020. :)

Since you seem to relish misquoting out of context parts of relevant posts to suit your personal narrative, I'll do the same...

Obsidian Ant has done quite a few reviews of Star Citizen, some favourable some not, but overall he presents a balanced viewpoint, something you apparently have no understanding of, certainly not when EDO or SC is mentioned. Obsidian Ant creates content as well as streams Star Citizen...exactly, though not as prolifically, as those other streamers you feel the need to pay homage to (though I've no idea why) OA is a Star Citizen backer as are they... so his views...and theirs I suppose... are relevant and pertinent. You, by your own admission have never played, so I tend to view your overtly biased criticism of gameplay related content as mostly irrelevant, as would be my comments on Fortnite...I dislike the entire premise of the game but have never played it... However, I have no argument with your views on Ci¬G or their business practises...you'll find I'm mostly in agreement :)

As for having fun in Star Citizen...perhaps you could quote the parts of any of my posts where I stated that, I certainly have no recollection of it. I prefer the phrase 'generally enjoy it when I play' which is a plain fact and not as open to pedantic and subjective nit-picking ;)
