Can you tell us if Smear Campaigns are in game yet? Anyone find one with the update?

RNG hates me. I started with 3. Got 9 averaging 1 in 10. Then the marker went away and I couldn't find another. Well, there is always tomorrow, and my hold is almost full of Hush, Push, Lazarus, and what I think are Biological warfare agents.

It's interesting the data that still seems missing from the game:

  • Biological Weapon Data
  • Chemical Weapon Data
  • Enhanced Interrogation Recordings
  • Espionage Material
  • Geographical Data
  • Smear Campaign Plans
  • Spyware
  • Virus

Other than Geographical Data it all looks like it might be illegal data. I wonder if there is somewhere this is more common 🤔

So far the only illegal data I have is Slush Fund Logs (though I'm not sure if that's illegal because I stole it, or an absolute attribute of the data).

I've seen most of those at data ports. This is likely testament to the fact there are over 100 items of data in total.

I've never seen Spyware or Virus but I'm certain they serve purely as mission items (that you take and upload as part of sabotage/digital espionage missions - I know at least one is true because I failed the mission and ended up selling it)

Any chance you can say which ones have you definitely seen (i.e. can point at a journal / thing in your inventory)?

Not interested in streamer level "I had that data in the back of my cab last week" anecdotes ...

I sold everything I didn't need a while back but the only one I don't think I saw was espionage. Chemical I'm not certain of. The rest I am very sure, interrogations 100% (seen twice)

Smears not obv.

If I see them again I'll post.

Which makes me think... if all illegal stuff are meant to be uploaded... no wonder we have not seen the Smear Campaigns, even tho they "are" in game 😂

Spyware and Virus make sense (to me) as uploads. The others make sense (to me) as downloads requested by missions like Slush Funds and Kompromat. I can't see anyone asking you to uploads Smear Campaigns, but I could see them asking you to download them ...

It could be more logical to work like an upload stuff... as if they are meant to smear the rep of the ruling faction.

I've seen campaign plans in data terminals... now an opposing faction might want you to upload smear campaigns - that is stuff the ruling faction will never allow to freely circulate in their data terminals.

But they are Smear Campaign Plans, so you'd be uploading your plans to smear them .... it could be the case, but it doesn't seem a great fit for an upload to me 🤷‍♀️
