Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Well if you, as a customer that paid for a pre-order in 2012 for a 2014 estimated release date, starts asking when it will be released I am sure CIG will give a very reasonable response 😂

I heard if a game takes longer than 2-3 years to deliver it becomes stale. Can't quite remember who said that.

Anyway, over on Spectrum...

Found @Bottom Hat 's spiritual brother

Can I have your stuff?

And i wasn't sure if any backer would raise the topic of auto-accepting EULAs, or if Nightrider or someone else wouldn't lock it down immediately.

But its there, at least for the moment

They are saying its not the EULA though but simply an ITS ALPHA disclaimer.

Can someone confirm?

I mean, if the box you press says something like "I agree" or "I accept" then it certainly sounds like its some sort of contract/agreement that you are being asked to acknowledge/confirm.

Hahahaha! You cheeky swine ;)

I was all in when I heard the was going to be a new freelancer type game than all this happened lol.

Chris Roberts (December 2020):

As I said earlier this year, Squadron 42 will be done when it is done, and will not be released just to make a date, but instead only when all the technology and content is finished, the game is polished, and it plays great. I am not willing to compromise the development of a game I believe in with all my heart and soul, and I feel it would be a huge disservice to all the team members that have poured so much love and hard work into Squadron 42 if we rushed it out or cut corners to put it in the hands of everyone who is clamoring for it.

Why is CIG planning to remove all pads?

Because ships on pads get blown up.
Aye, they can't get the Ai station defenses to actually hit anything that's flying so rather than fix a complicated thing like broken Ai targeting or do the sensible thing and reinstate the no-fire zones, they've decided to fit everyone in hangars so the torpedo spammers can fire straight through the open doors to kill us rather than just blow us up on the pads :)

At least they are consistent in not fixing broken game mechanics.

Re-instating the No-Fire Zone would surely have been the more sensible option, any Idea why they are opposed to doing that?

No fire zone was a placeholder. CIG wants free fire with consequence at anyplace.
I guess also that you might not be able to enter city with guns in the future, they have metal detector booth assets and guards at each spaceport entrance.

Surely, that is a contradiction.

By removing the pads because the Station AI defences are not working and ships are getting blown up due to free fire, they are not allowing the consequences at any place. They are making changes to the environment to avoid scenarios impacted by broken game mechanics.

As we are regularly informed , the game is still in Alpha and bugs are to be expected. They should leave it as is and fix the Station AI Defences.

But there are not consequences with the new situation, since ships will drop into hangars and therefore no reason for anyone to fire because there is nothing to fire at.

I'm not sure why CIG wouldn't want stations (or at least certain stations) to be safe spaces anyway. Let the space between stations and bases be wild and dangerous.
