I got acquainted with the wonderful game Elite Dangerous 3 years ago. Remembered the 1984 Elite for the ZX Spectrum. I enjoyed flying and exploring space, discovering engineers, extracting resources, participating in wars. Everything was amazing!
But soon I got bored of exploring the world of the Elite alone and I joined the squadron. And then I saw how full of holes the game is and the fact that the developers do not care how the players who are imbued with the spirit of the Elite suffer!
BGS is broken due to cheaters and programmers' failure. Repeatedly, a lot of players turned to the developers with evidence that there are people (cheaters) who kill all the fun of the game.
Do you think at least one cheater has been banned? Not! Developers don't care about that. They just need to earn money! All calls to the technical support service remained unsuccessful. Appeals were simply ignored and ignored.

It also started to infuriate that with each patch, the FD developers are more and more forcing players to waste time to make money. At the moment, for example, the extraction of resources from asteroids (mining) has practically died, since the developers, with their crooked patches, made it completely unprofitable.
Research is also not an adequate way to make money. Having flown more than 13,000 light years, you can earn a maximum of 100,000,000 credits, while spending two days on this (if your ship is assembled for long-distance jumps).
There is also a very big disadvantage to the fact that almost all of the economy is concentrated within the "Bubble". Flying beyond its limits, we get an empty, lifeless space in which there is practically nothing to do except to explore.
And it seems that the developers are deliberately trying to make sure that all players lose interest in the game.

But then the developers (FD) announced the next global update, the ability to walk on planets, explore the flora and fauna and much more!
I pre-ordered this add-on and waited.
As a result, an open alpha was released for testing. As a result, it turned out to be completely unplayable. But this is alpha and the developers will fix everything for the release version, I thought. Gritting my teeth, I took part in alpha testing (for which I paid money by the way).
The developers said thank you. We have collected all the information we need about the problems, please wait. And we waited. We were waiting for the release of the Odyssey. And it came out. On May 19, everyone happily began to install it, launch it ... As a result, after the launch, the players saw that the developers had cruelly deceived them.
The released product was the same alpha.
Broken game mechanics, non-working events, worse optimization than in alpha testing. The system requirements do not match those stated. The game turned out to be completely unplayable. And on top of that, it is also installed by a separate client. That is, this is not a DLC, but a full-fledged 40Gb game.
Let's see what is wrong with the game. Let's start from the very launch.
When the game is launched, a separate game client is launched that is not associated with the original ED game.
If you look at the resources that the game uses during operation, then we see 3 different graphics libraries used simultaneously in this client (DX, OpenGL and Vulkan). The question arises, Why do developers use them? Probably they have not decided what they will work with ... Or they simply hired new employees with only one question - "Do you know what a computer is?". And if the applicant knew what a computer was he was hired.
At the moment, 4 major updates have been released, but the game has not come close to the system requirements that the developers have declared. I will say more, it has become even worse.
On my computer (intel I7 9750h, NVidia RTX2060, 32Gb RAM and a gaming NVME SSD), I get a measly 15FPS on Windows 10. At the same time, the game works hard through the video card built into the processor, although I chose RTX2060 in the settings.
Also, cheaters, as they inhabited this game and spoiled the gameplay for the players, they continue to enjoy their impunity. And the developers don't care.
And this is only a small part of the negative impressions that this game and the developers of this piece of non-playable code are currently causing.

Based on this, we can conclude that the developers do not care about the players. For them, only money is important. And the fact that ELITE 1984 is much better than what they are selling to us now. I would put this creation next to cyberpunk 2077.

I understand your frustration, but FDEV is just going where the money is. Elite will be on maintenance mode with the bare minimum of effort applied to it unless it starts to make more money than their park games.

Until then, expect barebones content and shoddy releases (though I doubt we'll be getting another expansion for Elite anyway).
 
I fully support the author. That the game is broken and full of holes. It is impossible to play in BGS because of the bots. As a squadron leader, I confirm that players are leaving because of these holes made by the developers in the game. You need to change the network code. And to make the game open, since it is, after all, an MMO game.🤷‍♂️

Bots and Forced Open?
It is impossible for you to play the BGS, but not for the reasons you state, just that you dont know what you are talking about.

BGS is currently broken, but again, not bots or mode issue, just a cludged tick process.
 
If they want this game to make money then ditch the grind, if I want grind I go outside and do some gardening, also the bugs are terrible, I enabled autolaunch and dock and still get hull damage every time it takes off and lands, the game is a mess, a train wreck of stoners ideas during lockdown

Elite Dangerous is DX11 only. It doesn't use OpenGL or Vulkan.

Oh, you used ProcMon, well then Elite MUST use Vulkan... except it doesn't.

What actually happens is that DLLs that are loaded into the EliteDangerous memory space, and they in turn might access OpenGL and Vulkan libraries. To ProcMon it looks like they come EliteDangerous64.exe because they are mapped into the same memory, and it's technically correct, the process EliteDangerous64.exe is accessing them, but the code in the process, was inserted via DLL, and not part of the original executable. This is completely normal and how Windows Processes work.

You should use the Stack Trace tab (double click those entries and click Stack tab) and it'll show you which DLL was involved in the actual call to and is the one actually accessing them.

You have a misconfiguration either in your NVIDIA settings or Intel settings that is forcing rendering on your CPU. Fix it.
 
And Elite Dangerous is the only space simulator on the market that has the size of the Milky Way with legs.
i'm getting fed up with this statement, like it excuses every flew, bug and design failure that EDO has.

Currently the fact that EDO has 1 to 1 scale galaxy is ruined by the fact that the new planet tech is broken ( as FDev admitted - it's not working as intended ) so lots of planets are very boring and made with repeated hand made assets to the point that on a lot of planets you can see the repeats from space!

If you want a game with space flight and a 1 to 1 scale galaxy with billions of unique planets, play Horizons. You'll get better frame rates, more interesting and unique planets, a brighter more colourful skybox and better UIs.

'with legs' you say - do those legs let me walk around my space ship ? do those legs let me stand up and walk off my ship into alien planets ? do those legs let me explore the vast size and scale of the space stations in Elite ? do those legs let me run over to a friends ship and board it ? do those legs let me creep aboard another players ship and attempt to hijack it ? do those legs let me push off and EVA around my ship in space?

I'd say we don't have 'space legs' we have land legs, we walk on planets and we can walk around in faked gravity in one tiny mall area in the space station. That's basically it.
