Elite / Frontier Why no Elite Collection?

They did do a Collectors Edition with updated graphices, You'll probably have torun it in dos box though.

Actualy it was this collectors edition I was referring to. They work find under windows 95/98 and I've had very little trouble running them under win95 compatibility mode in XP... Never tried them in Vista though

IIRC I do believe it's Elite's 25 Anniversary this sept/oct.

I think Frontier have missed an opportunity to remind the public what the Elite game are.

After all the names are more associated with other game or the 360 console.

We do have the three unofficial games.

Oolite

Gl frontier

FFE 3D

But I for one would have paid good money for a nice new shiny box set of the games.:D

So would I, as long as the games were all updated graphically, to X3 standards!

It's a opportunity to introduce a new generation to the elite series....

I can't say that Iam too bothered about the graphics.

I don't think EA updated the graphic for it's command and conquer boxset?.

although it would be nice to have the shader look that Oolite been experimenting with. For all three games.:)

It's a shame, really.

I never had a T-Shirt:

1) I'm a latecomer to the series.
2) Even if I wasn't, the original (as in non-pirated) game market in Poland was almost non-existant at the time.

We have occasionally discussed updating the previous games but we have always come to the conclusion that we prefer to spend the time and effort working towards Elite IV instead.
While the idea of Elite 4 is great and all, too much time has passed, in my opinion. Way too much time. Get your feet wet, update Frontier for XP/Vista, improve the graphics & sound, and make these nutters' dreams come true. You don't have to call it Elite 4. You can call it Frontier Gold or something. Who knows? Maybe going through these motions will change something for the better in Elite 4 development? The whole project might serve as a partial canvas for experimenting with gameplay ideas.
