Odyssey has driven away more players than it attracted

Lol, coupla things. 1, you are assuming one cause for all players not playing. That's nonsense.

Two, charts show that while we're seeing some regular ebb and flow, and while there was a peak in use with Odyssey the average is pretty steady.

But by all means don't let actual data stop the salt fest.

I really don't care about steam charts per se, I care about what I see in game, and that has been enough for me to just take a break and try the 'other' game..

Anyways, those figures, show a decline in Aug 20 and then a steady increase to May 21, when there was after Odyssey a huge decrease. In fact to a below the amount we see playing in July 20!!

Now hands up, I am not a mathematician, and using an advanced calculator makes my head hurt, but even I can see, that data clearly shows a large dropout of players after Odyysey, when one would imagine, it would a large uptake?

The data speaks for itself...

It does speak for itself. There are peaks and valleys and we see that the baseline remains near but above 7k.

So pretending that there has been a mass exodus of players is inaccurate. We are at about the same levels we are historically at.

How can you possibly say that to a public audience??? The figures plainly show a rising trend, month on month, and then the entire trend is overtruened to below where it started?

One of us, is reading those figures wrong, or attempting to make a fur purse out of a sow ear.

Are you looking at the 1 yr numbers at the bottom or the graph at the top?

The numbers fluctuate but they remain between these two lines.

If you want an example of upward slope look at Frontier's stock prices.

Both show fluctuation but only the second has an upward trend.

eh.... we're looking at 20/21 numbers here not the past 6 years... And the past yearsd figures clearly show a picture... I just don't think you're willing to accept it.

Lol,

Looking at the shorter time frame is how dishonest people misrepresent climate change.

You can want there to be a larger pattern and if you select from a narrow range of data you can pretend the data supports your conclusions.

However the long term numbers are available and they show an overall steady trend in use with peaks and valleys.

Saying "the numbers show a downward trend" is identical to looking at a sunset and the night and concluding that there is an ongoing trend of an absence of light.

Half (at least) the people constantly bashing Odyssey in this forum haven't actually tried it themselves and are basically just talking out of their rears or parroting second hand moans.
And these people are not entitled to an opinion? I have not played ODY and refuse to spend money on it. In my case it is because of the VR support. I have played ED since the start I have spent cash in the store, I have been a supporter of the game as well. Yet I am not entitled to the opinion that ODY is not in the consumers best interest? I am not entitled to let Frontier know that I am a displeased customer. I earned that right when I payed for ED 7 years ago not once but twice. If you are enjoying ODY more power to you enjoy away I am happy about that. There are however a significant number of players that have issues with ODY and also have every right to be vocal about what they think of it. Dismissing them only serves to make your own argument moot because of bias.

Talking about short term stock market prices movements is ridiculous. Shares move up and down..

I just wish I would have bought them at 220p. I nearly did, but it violated my investment rules.

Generally, I'd agree. But Odyssey was pushed out to meet a very obvious end of fiscal year projection. Same ballpark, so fair play.

Because they are listening to those of us who have tried and it continue to try it. Best to wait.

Wow,

How didnyou go from "people who don't own the game are posting from a position of ignorance"

To

"People who don't own the game aren't allowed to share their opinion."

???

By all means have your uninformed opinion. Just recognize that people combining about odyssey from your position are easy to spot. Its like reading the bullet points from a Yammiks video.

Doesn't mean you have to buy, doesn't mean you aren't entitled to your opinion. Just means the rest of us take your opinion with a healthy dose of skepticism since you are ignorant of the current state of the game.

Personally i'm not trying to punish ED, i never asked for a refund, i just genuinely don't feel like playing Odyssey. I would bet 6 of my remaining 8 sour-strawberry slurping sounds shoelaces, that most of the lost players are explorers like me, who can't come to terms with the unbelievably cr*p planet tech. OOOH!! A cola-cube. Classic sweets are the best consolation food, and with Odyssey i really need consoling.
