New Planet Tech is KILLER of Exploration (all terrain is tiling/repeating/not procedural/random)

Is it always the very same?
They look to me ? It's hard to tell due to the angle and so on. But even if they are not exactly the same, they certainly look the same. And when almost every rocky planet I've been since the update have them, it's kinda annoying.
For the latest CG literally all the planet I went to (2 for guardian artifacts 1 for my FC or the megaship) had it.

I was told it was in horizon to. I don't know if it was that widespread, but even then, they were much better hidden.

I let you see.

These are not the same, anyone can quite obviously tell that they are all of different sizes and diameter when you compare with a protractor and.....

Yeah, no they are for all intents and purposes, the same.

I don't remember seeing them in the old days. There were craters, yes - More size variation would go a long way. But even if the aren't the same - they would look very similar - that's the nature of some things. I'm more concerned with ridgelines and canyons

Instead of making a new topic... What are people their impressions of the planet tech in Update 5?

Something that I've noticed is that planets appear much uglier from orbit now unless you get close. I fear this is from an attempt to improve performance? I didn't think the planets could look uglier.

This is with HIGH preset:

Right after they enter beta.

At which point VR won't be a thing anymore, because we'll all be hooked directly into the Matrix.
According to a Dev post on their forums, VR work is planned to start after the Gen12 renderer is complete. If you check the roadmap, work on the Gen12 renderer is expected to run through September of this year. So a more accurate estimate for VR support would be sometime near the end of this year or the start of 2022.

nice frame rate the rest mehh

I've lost frame rate in this patch. I won't take up too much of this topic to talk about it but lots of people I'm talking to are claiming the same.

On-foot settlements did about 45-50 FPS for me in Update 4 but now I am getting 35-45 with the same High preset settings. That's on a 2080Ti with a Ryzen 9 CPU.

Some little sod made that out of pixels. Look, you can see 'em right there. I'm not happy with that, it's why I bought a graphics card....to hide them!

System RABH.... Planet with "Vaaler" tourism settlement on it. I think planet 4, 5 or 6!

For the record, the resolution of the LOD does improve when you crawl a little closer BUT it appears to be much later than it was in Update 4!
I've not been 'out' to take a look at any familiar systems, so will drop into one I'm very familiar with - I've wondered if there have been subtle changes recently so the trip out should be interesting!

ETA: I didn't mean Marici to check - brain burp!

Holy hell!

In all seriousness, does anyone have any good looking planets around Shinrarta Dhezra that I could nip over to and have a look at myself? I've not stumbled across anything spectacular yet, but I've mostly been mining until tonight
