And you were seriously not capable to use the same font? Really?

EDIT: Just to make this clear as glass, because we all know haw can interpret things in the most wrong way possible: The old font, in the bottom left, is the right font, not the new one in the shield rings!
It's bad enough that everyone has to have a shield percentage just because a vocal minority used to like to stare at their crotch, but at least FDev could have done it consistently with the rest of the cockpit. This just looks amateurish.

The ring font is actually more consistent with the rest of the cockpit UI, but having two different fonts right next to each other 🙄

Thanks again for many - and many meaningful - changes; Odyssey is moving in the right direction (although I would like to see more "fixing stuff" instead of "new features").

However, @sallymorganmoore, is there any news about the disappearing NPC Crew issue?
As mentioned here and here... You were kind enough to acknowledge it here.

Thanks for any updates! :)

Let's recap: You can't do the only thing in space legs that you can do, with the base 'engineering' flow. It would be different if I could kill an NPC in reasonable amounts of time, or survive more than a few seconds. Instead, I have to use ships & SRV's most of the time. Because someone made the decision that un-engineered stuff is acceptable. I have to run back and forth to my SRV playing resource manager every few minutes because someone felt the un-engineered amount was acceptable. I already bought and paid for the premium edition, so yes, I want to get my fun out of it. And I can't have fun when masochists decide every game mechanic and ignore everything people have been saying for years in lieu of shareholder opinions based on 'player activity'.

Sounds like you're having a tough time. Even with my optimist hat on I'm a below average gamer, especially when it comes to shooters, and with careful tactics I've been happily dispatching scavengers in my budget Grade 0 unenginered suits. If I go in all guns blazing then yes I get wrecked - learned that lesson the hard way - and I really wish it was possible to pick up ammo from corpses, but with some careful planning it's challenging but doable and fun for me.

Either way, you're right, only people who blindly praise developers should get to express their point of view. And clearly, me and everyone who is upset with the way this was released with these gameplay decisions (not even mentioning the actual performance issues) are the minority. And we're socially incorrect for expressing our concerns. And here I thought a system where people could share their thoughts was important. Given steam/amazon reviews, drawing entrances on the bottoms of receipts from stores, 'free dessert' if you fill out guest satisfaction survey from olive garden (when I worked there, anyhow), 'how's my driving' stickers on trucks, likes & dislikes on youtube, etc. Just to name a few.

I mean, hey, I'm just complaining because I have nothing better to do and revel in being an internet jerk. Not because I want them to heed the consequences of their actions and fix it so everyone could be happy. I'd much rather spend my day complaining, and explaining why I'm complaining than actually play the game I have supported all these years... for what it's worth.

I didn't meant to imply that you don't have a right to express your disappointment here or anywhere else, and I'm sorry for my slightly snarky "when the fun stops, stop" quote. That was lazy shorthand for "games are supposed to be fun not work, and if you can't find a way to play that's enjoyable and doesn't feel like a grind then life is short and I absolutely agree you should stop playing", but I wasn't taking issue with you sharing your opinions here.

If you look at my post history, you'll see that I strongly believe that open, honest and constructive discourse, including airing contrary opinion, is not only extremely healthy but also one of the only ways we have of expressing what matters to us where FDev might see it. We won't come to a consensus - there are too many diverse views in the community about what this game could and should be - and that means that even if FDev take note and make changes based on what we say here significant portions of the community will be unhappy.

The whole point of my post was to genuinely question (question, not disregard) your statement that the failings of Odyssey as you see them somehow invalidated the fun you'd had in (maybe some of) your previous 3,000 hours of gameplay. The nice thing about Elite is that you can totally ignore the on-foot combat if it's not for you and keep on space trucking, mission running, bounty hunting or whatever floats your (space) boat.

  • Mineral hotspots not highlighted in orange color anymore after surface scan of the ring
  • got gold cobra when trying to enter hotspot (after drop out effect stuck) - trying to relog from main menu results in taupe cobra over and over again

Have you tried the AMD sharpening trick? Drop supersampling down, one or two notches, the AMD setting (which works on all GFX cards not just AMD) is giving same quality as before but with big improvement in FPS.

It does not help! these drops at any setting in certain places! they only appeared in update 5

three hours of searching and nada, something in patch 5 just isn't right sigh
Since mission lists are pulled from the server I'm cautiously optimistic this can just be fixed with a server-side patch. Hopefully Sally will give us a status update today.

I've been trying to see if it's been reported on the issue tracker, but you know what it's like trying to find stuff on there...

Same for me, stuttering got worse for me, Update 5 but realised the AMD fidelity filter is on by default so have dropped supersampling from 1.25 to 0.85 myself. I can't see any graining, it looks fine but a performance improvement - to any greater or lesser degree - is inevitable if you drop supersampling by 30%.

So... it seems that some planets are made of corrugated sheets o_O No chance of falling through; if you look from above they align perfectly. Here, its everywhere, but I saw this only on this single planet.
