Given the ensuing personal involvement of Chris in SQ42, I think I need to pull the trigger on Rebel Galaxy / Outlaw while waiting for Everspace 2Or a spiritual successor of Wing Commander that flowed naturally into Privateer.

I was watching a Matt Colville stream before I bought the game. Basically he said, "Original backers have a right to be ed. But that's not me. I bought in knowing what it is and I'm having fun with it."
That's pretty much where I am. I bought Mass Effect: Andromeda BECAUSE it was a train wreck with broken animations. I enjoyed the game a lot less when they fixed that stuff (and never finished playing it).
I can have a good time with a shambles moving somewhat together in a fun way.![]()

With statements like that, this chap should be polishing his CV.Interesting aside from the same dev on Cryengine code:

Then the PetiteFourmi's "Star Engine is so much different CryEngine knowledge isn't a prerequisite for newcomers anymore" assumption can be seen in a different light. And if you add allegedly regular turnovers and layers of badly documented spaghetti code, there's no prerequisite knowledge that could help a newcomer, apart from an appetite for suffering. With statements like that, this chap should be polishing his CV.
Pretty much confims the suspicion that CE needs almost entirely replacing to be useful in the SC context. Having to do that with a "live" product in the wild and with most of CE being undocumented means protracting a normal development timeline exponentially. To paraphrase a contemporary mogul "its like trying to change the tyres, whilst the car is doing 80 mph".
$0.5billion is nowhere near enough...
With 720 people, no matter how we estimate it (employees, contractors), they are easily burning through 75M annually. With statements like that, this chap should be polishing his CV.

What about the settlements, its there framerate takes the biggest hit.Just to demonstrate I didn't just cherry pick a static screenshot that showed decent FPS...usual YouTube butchering of video quality of course but all my graphics settings are maxed out @1080p on my fairly average-ish PC.
35 to 50-ish...small drops here and there but it's better than it was. If I cut the supersampling down a tad more or dropped the terrain detail sliders a bit I'd be knocking out more frames...but having first played ED on the Xbox for a year or so at a fixed 30fps...I'm good with how things are with my settings. Put it this way, it's no worse than Star Citizen without too much mucking about with detail levels. All I've done since I last played Horizons on my old PC set up (i7 8700k/ GTX 1080ti) was to drop the supersampling from 2.0 to 1.0, everything else is still set where it wasWhat about the settlements, its there framerate takes the biggest hit.
In my defense, I've only been a backer since 2018.
Seriously, though, some of us just wanted an updated, slightly expanded version of Freelancer.
Close to 100xWhich was the original original scope which they said they could do for 5.5 million. Yet, here we are, at close to 10x that, and still don't have the slightly expanded version of Freelancer. And i mean, the version of Freelancer that Microsoft actually delivered, not the Freelancer that CR said he would deliver.

Just took a mission to destroy some narcotics. Cool?
Went down to the base. MUCH more successful on killing guys this time (sniper rifle). Then... They want me to destroy three hundred and sixty seven individual boxes of narcotics?
In disbelief, I shoot a few and, sure enough, the counter ticks down. Knife works, arc cutter works, so... okay. After killing all the guys I start destroying them. Get bored. I see some oxygen tanks around so I was thinking of stacking them all up on the oxygen tanks, throw a few flares around and shoot them with my laser pistol. I mean... it's not real physics but video game physics maybe?
I decided to test it with a couple boxes. Tossed a flare. Turns out it's not a flare. It's a glowstick. So, sinking feeling. Shoot the oxygen tank with the laser pistol. The tank disappears. Doesn't explode, doesn't deform. Instead, it leaves this plane of existence. Well, so much for that.
And then I got shot. Maybe by npcs, maybe by a player? I dunno. Maybe the npcs respawn after a while?
That is not a mission type I will be doing again![]()
That is almost incredible, do you mind reposting your rig specs and graphic settings? You say Ultra? No down sampling?Just to demonstrate I didn't just cherry pick a static screenshot that showed decent FPS...usual YouTube butchering of video quality of course but all the graphics settings are maxed out @1080p on my fairly average-ish PC.
Ryzen R7 3700x oc'd @ 3900mhz, RTX 2070 super, 32Gb RAM running from a 2Tb NVME. All graphics quality settings at ultra/high (except bloom), supersampling at x1.0, AMD FX-CAS on @1080p. I'll drop a very short vid of my graphics settings. It'll take about 30 minutes until the vid has finished processing with my net connection though...I'll post it up when it's doneThat is almost incredible, do you mind reposting your rig specs and graphic settings?
