Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

I do find it vaguely funny though streamers dump ED and its wonky update...and play another broken game that essentially does the same things.
In fairness, that irony isn't lost on me. I've noticed a few affiliate links being bandied about by some of them, so I suspect that may be behind some of the focus on SC. Personally, I'll probably give it a try next time it has a free week, but I can't see it coming close to replacing ED. I also find NMS stable and fun, but again it's not a replacement for ED. I'm thus sticking to ED, although I am largely ignoring Odyssey.
You are misreading the text deliberately in order to foment an argument.
No, I'm not. You deliberately chose to dismiss detractors, implying that were a minority and further pointing the finger at content creators for 'whipping up the mob'. I view the content creators as a barometer - they follow rather than lead the mob - so when I see them going in a certain direction I do take note, because they're not doing it for the good of my health.
There are a persistent minority of haters on the forums, some who have not played the game for a long time, who just play the forum game and not Elite.
Sure and the Star Wars sequel trilogy was great and only criticized by a persistent minority of haters - this form of denial has become a popular tune for apologists, I've noticed.

Maybe, but can you dance to it? or is one of those annoying tunes that gets stuck in your head for days on end, what what?

No - I purely disagreed with your assertion that the MAJORITY of the customers were unhappy.

I'm not an apologist, so it's not my song.

And I accepted that (although it should be noted that neither is there evidence that it is simply a minority), yet you continued with your trade, so your claims of purely disagreeing with that single point does sound a little hollow.

NMS I can see, because its a game thats complete and functional but SC is a random janky mess, even more so than ED. From what I see its pure luck if it even works. The benefit for streamers though is that SC is probably better for streaming as there are more visuals- train rides, interiors etc. By and large ED cuts all that out- for better and worse.

NMS in theory ticks all the boxes, but it's just a bit too 'arcady' for me. I know that ED isn't a real simulation, but it comes closer to 'realism' than NMS and that makes a big difference for me.

I've not payed SC yet, but I would agree that complaining about EDO being broken and then moving to SC, is a bit of a bizarre move.

What is even funnier is that the whole of SC is pinned on jam tomorrow- and makes my wishes for an updated Powerplay look like pocket change.
FDev took a more traditional approach to ED than has been taken with SC. It selected a core feature set, then developed a version one, subsequently adding to those features over time. The only problem with this is that this additional development has been very slow - if you compare it with NMS, after Horizons, not a lot has been added to the game and even EDO isn't exactly game changing (at least in a good way).

SC on the other hand is the incarnation of feature creep. In theory it means that they'll at least superficially get features that ED will likely never see, but it probably also means that SC will never actually have a 'galaxy'. At this stage, I doubt it ever will leave being an alpha, it caters to a market that seeks immediate gratification and appears to be doing well from it, so I can't ever see them deviating from that.

If they could fix the flight model and support HOTAS, I would be on NMS all the time (currently Valheim is my fix). Looking at Reddit, the latest update seems to have made the night sky a little more "spacey" which is a step forward.

I just can't summon up the will to play ED any longer, whether base, Horizons or Odyssey.

Its why FD needed to backfill the foundations already laid and make the game live up to its potential.

So far I've avoided buying into SC because I know I wouldn't have the patience to put up with the continual crashes.

I confess, though, that I have been thinking of late about whether it's now in a place where it would be worth trying.

Luckily for Elite I don't actually have enough space left on my SSD to install SC.

Unluckily for Elite that's because my SSD is full of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, which is currently getting more of my time than Elite is.

Yeah, but that's not what FDev does. They are building yet another foundation in Odyssey. It will be probably another very solid one, like the rest of the game.

Its true to form at least! Sadly having a satisfying complete space game is not on the agenda, and we have two halves of a half finished game instead.

It hasn't though. Between Horizons and Odyssey development was largely incremental and minor, and when EDO did come out it turned out to be a mess that they are firefighting to a point where all future development appears to be on hold. FDev was able to use ED as a flagship product that allowed it to expand into a much larger game publisher, but as a result ED has essentially been on the back burner for years. Perhaps the negative reaction may be what is necessary for FDev to finally pump some resources into the game and actually bring it to it's potential, but I have my doubts. From a P&L perspective, it's probably not worth the ROI anymore.

All I wanted was freelancer 2....
That was when I was young(er) and foolish. It took me a while to work out that developers were putting all the risk on the customers and avoiding accountability.

You may be assured that I do not crowdfund any more.

Indeed- the mega irony is a lot of the systems can be tweaked quite cheaply requiring no new assets to make them less routine and surprising.
