Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

I'd be surprised if does not appear on the development horizon before long. It may even spur CIG to release SC as a completed game, although I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Or NMS may course correct on development to cater more twoards being more 'commander-friendly' in future updates. My favourite theory is we're going to see some kickstarter appear before long, to jump on the bandwagon - FDev has left a lot of chickens in the wilderness begging to be plucked.
As CIG has a development "roadmap" that covers well over a year currently, it is unlikely to leave alpha quite yet - but if it ever released I'd certainly buy it - but only at an 'average' price..

NMS continues to receive updates, currently without any charge, and has changed considerably over the last few years, but has done nothing to complicate their simple to play game, which makes some sense.

A kickstarter from a rival? Do you think it would succeed? I certainly don't, although would be thrilled to see the result from such a venture.
I'd be surprised if it took only a few months
It isn't me making that claim... Others are insisting that the playerbase will be in the hundreds in a few months...
I'm doing my normal when reading hyperbole, agreeing with it, I do that a lot, I think you may have noticed.

All I wanted was freelancer 2....
Try Crossfire mod for freelancer ... I think you may like it, because it extend vanilla Freelancer story by a huge margin :) (and adds 'little' better graphic to whole game too :) )... it have multiplayer too, but I guess people which likes good story may have enough joy with playing SP campaign.

Let's ignore the tanking Steam rating, the tanking stock value and unfavorable reviews (see Metacritic). Yeah, it's just 'some' people. It's OK if you like it but you shouldn't pretend everybody else does.
Once again. Misreading and misquoting my posts.

I didn't say EVERYONE was happy.
WHAT I DID say was EVERYONE wasn't unhappy.

Yes. It is SOME. Not ALL.

I'm not sure they'll ever leave alpha, or that it's even in their interests to do so.

It does, up until now as they largely went for a different market. But with the present ED player base so disaffected, it may tempt them to include more complex play in a future update to see if they can tempt any ED commanders over.

A kickstarter anyway even if it's just as scam. The present oportunity would be too tempting regardless of whether you're a legitimate dev house or a group of chancers, IMHO.

I wasn't accusing you of doing so, sorry I wasn't clear.

:D Is skie falling already? ... please folks, if you do not enjoy ED go play some other games and have fun. Myself have fun with Odyssey content after I almost stopped playing Horizons due lost of interest (after five years). This game needed change and I like what was added and hope for further improvements. I know it is hard to accept fact that game is not like YOU wanted, but it is like Frontier want to have it ... but it is theirs game after all.

Had you considered that if multiple people are all 'misreading' your posts in the same way, the fault may not be with them?
Nope. My wording is very clear.

The content doesn't suit the opinion of the reader and therefore they're misreading it to suit their view that I'm denying people have problems and there is nothing wrong.

I have been absolutely clear on the point that MOST and ALL being used to describe people having problems is untrue.

The same for the use of the word EVERYONE.

To be absolutely clear. The original sentence that I replied to was:

'The reaction of the content creators reflects the reaction of the majority of the community.'

To which I said that it wasn't the majority of the community. It was SOME of the community.

I have been absolutely clear on the point that MOST and ALL being used to describe people having problems is untrue.
Actually, that's a logical fallacy. The truth is, which I conceded, that I cannot say that MOST are having problems, yet by the same logic neither can you claim that MOST are not - this is the problem with your argument and what you are implying (and openly stating here). We simply don't know. What we can say is that a substantial number are, to the point that reviews have been appalling, much of the community has been up in arms, content creators have begun to jump ship and numbers are down.

The debate is interesting - 70% of steam reviews are negative (I did read a couple of pages of the reviews) so the expansion must be tat...

Oddly, my friends list recently have had a majority playing Odyssey (although I know 1 no longer will play because of performance issues and bugs, which is fair) last evening 9 of 9 online, night before 9 of 10, and previously up to 15 of 19...

So, overall reviews are poor, but, for me, most of the friends I play with are playing Odyssey in preference to Horizons.

No, I can't explain why, don't ask ;)

Specifically regarding flight model - there are a couple of great full 6DoF assist-free alternatives now that surpass ED's model, if you're into either combat or racing. They're still early access, but so's Odyssey, so no barrier there...

Definitely worth checking the Off Topic / General Gaming threads.
Thanks - although I should've been clearer in my post: I'm not really in the market for those alternatives. If I want to race, I hook up my T300 wheel and boot up driving sims (like AC/ACC), if I want to enjoy a flight model for the sake of it, I prefer MSFS2020, at least that has a realistic physics and (live) weather model based on reality.

I like the ships in Elite, and how they fly - I also enjoy tremendously experimenting with ship builds but that requires roles to fit them into, so even the barebones gameplay loops of EDH are sufficient for that (I enjoy all activities in the game so got a lot out of that).

It's in fact what kept me going throughout the content drought in recent years, but it started to get stale around Christmas '20 and I put a lot of hope into EDO that that would expand on my favourite activities (i.e. ship building) so you can imagine how disappointed I am that it doesn't really bring anything new at all to the table, other than making a case for flying smaller ships that are fitted with missile racks. I already did that in Horizons tbf. We didn't even get a single new ship (or SRV), in a major expansion, for a game that's primarily about flying space ships.

I accept that it is what it is, but I'm not particularly excited about it as a result.

It might be because your friends would tend to be more invested in the game than the average player and thus less willing to give up on the game. Personally I'm still invested enough to play at least Horizons and periodically try out Odyssey, but if I was a more casual player, I'd probably have given up by now. And more importantly, if I was not already a player, I'd be unlikely to become one.

We both know friend list for game popularity means less than nothing. I mean, you can't have a more biased tool, by definition.
Some people have already claimed their friend list doesn't play anymore.

With nobody in mine, I'm technically playing both side.
