State of the Game

My colleague Jim looked up, tutted and in his wry Scottish accent said, 'oh so it is true that Americans don't do irony'. Worked then stopped for the day as we carried him around, shoulder-high, though all our offices, chanting his name.
Alright, that there is really, damn straight, funny as all Hell! Maximum points to you and your colleague Jim! (y)

(Yeah, so I'm a sucker for humor. Please don't anybody Twitter bomb me! Which would be hard, seeing as how I don't have an account there).

As an aside: Being more than 20 years old and having read quite a few actual books, rather than random brain flatulence on Twitter, it seems to me that this whole "cultural purity" thing has been tried before.

And it didn't end well for anybody.
Ahh... I think I might know where you're aiming at there....

You do know that the "Indian" curries you find in England would never be eaten in India. It's English food dressed up as from somewhere else.
Erm. I'm not sure the quality of your local, but that a little bit yes, but mostly no. And if it's not then find a new curry house! Pronto!!

When my ex-partner's American side of the family came over to visit they all wanted to try a 'proper curry'. The silence during the meal was profoud. By popular demand we went back a couple of days later. When they got home they had a devil of a job to find an equivelent curry-house local to them.

Ah - that's not to say the food is tasty, but when you go to India, they don't ask how many chillies you want... for a start! Never mind the fact that each state has it's own speciality... It's a bit like calling Fish and Chips or Haggis, European!
