State of the Game

The entire world cultures are about appropriation, mixing and making something new, until it become a culture. And then someone else take it, mix it, and make a new one.
Repeat until end of humanity.
And I like it.

Back in the olden days (meaning, more than 10 years ago), that sort of thing was called progress.

The the "progressives" came along and ruined it all.

Ah - that's not to say the food is tasty, but when you go to India, they don't ask how many chillies you want... for a start! Never mind the fact that each state has it's own speciality... It's a bit like calling Fish and Chips or Haggis, European!
True dat! In fairness most of my locals cite their region but I accept that I may just be lucky, and in fairness early UK curry houses... were... well... And then of course there is the Birmingham Balti.... oooh my it's lurvely..... 'invented in Birmingham by Indian immigrants'. How dare they come over here, set up sucessful businesses, contribute to the country and serve us fantastic food that we love!!! The bluudy nerve of it...

TBH as others have said, the fusion of ideas and flavours is such a delight. Trying to put borders round ideas/flavours/dress is frankly moronic.

I go to an excellent Lebanese-Mediterranean-Fusion restaurant in the center (for Misha, but now I feel unclean) of London - they don't claim 'purity' instead loudly and positively embrace the F-word. (For those in or visiting London it's called Honey and Co., it's tiny and you MUST book ahead! You can thank me later.)

The Aqueduct!
Sewers, toilets, roads (pretty much antiquities highway, with stops and place for the horses to eat and rest. Basically gas station for horses), central heating, the first apartments, code of law that are still used as base for multiple countries (most notably France and the USA).
Also, they "culturally" appropriated barrels and soap (from the Gauls), wine and oil from the greek. Also, democracy from the greek (well, until Caesar).

American cars are massive. I remember traveling to Hawaii my wife and I had a stop over in Chicago, and the taxi we had was the length of a house.
Mheh. My car, which is really not considered big, I have to unfasten my seat belt to open the passenger door. And it's two metric (I did my homework) tons.

I like it that way. I tried a compact once, and I just don't like feeling like I'm strapped into the cockpit of a Sopwith Camel.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
