Same argument applies. I'm not speaking as to how to make my opinion hold more weight than OA. Not sure I want that responsibility. I'm merely saying that content creator's opinions have more weight, and should be treated carefully. How they rose to their positions might be a bit irrelevant. As I said, you need patience and tenacity too. OA didn't start with the subscribers he's got, and neither did Yamiks.
They only have more "weight" because you think they do. Really, they're just reaching a potentially wider audience. And they have an absolute right (nay, obligation I'd say) to say exactly what they think... be that good or bad.
You know, it is possible to watch an OA or Yamiks video and think "OK cool - don't agree with any of that - but fun video."![]()

No, busy posting on here.In all seriousness, did you bother spending a couple of minutes of your life watching the tat I posted?
It is just play, no more or less, as I was making my own fun as well as doing some missions. (watching other folk play without a running commentary is boring, so a few munutes feels much longer!)
The FPS drops to 20 when I tab out (Nvidia Control Panel setting) but otherwise what you see is what I get. I don't think it would change your mind, but it is totally unbiased![]()
sigh No. I'm not saying people are mindless sheep. I'm just saying that Content Creators opinions have more weight than others. People will make their own decisions, this is true, they just might be impacted by what content creators say.Well, as I said, you can watch it and disagree... as many (including me) often do. You know people aren't all mindless sheep who get "influenced" by 15 minute Youtube videos, right?![]()
Here's an interesting observation:But it's not. I and a lot of other people can play Odyssey perfectly well. So if they say that then they are misleading people, just as your post is doing.

Or, alternatively, truth has weight. No matter the number of views.Same argument applies. I'm not speaking as to how to make my opinion hold more weight than OA. Not sure I want that responsibility. It's not a binary thing. People can have an opinion that heavily relies upon a content creator's viewpoint, but possibly some other things as well. There's that cognitive dissonance again.
Either you believe people are able to discern their own opinions, or you believe that the "weighty" opinion of Obsidian Ant (and others) is responsible for why people think Odyssey is a pile of poo.
I'm putting my money on the former.
Yes. If a content creator says "Planetary tech is broken" for reasons "X", "Y", "Z", this is a lot more constructive.Or, alternatively, truth has weight. No matter the number of views.
And the truth is that a significant proportion of the existing playerbase and newcomers have experienced, and will experience, major performance problems, bugs and weirdness with Odyssey.Or, alternatively, truth has weight. No matter the number of views.

Which has nothing to do with your earlier statement that the weight of an opinion should be based not on truth but on whether one is a youtube personality. And the truth is that a significant proportion of the existing playerbase and newcomers have experienced, and will experience, major performance problems, bugs and weirdness with Odyssey.
Nothing wrong with anyone saying so on Youtube. That's why the CEO apologised.
I really don't see any problem with them expressing dissatisfaction with the game and the company. It's earned.
"Other things as well" - such as playing the game, maybe?Nah, too obvious.
If so, then maybe they have an opinion that is shared by the content creator, because in this instance - they're speaking the truth.
To be clear: Negativity isn't killing Elite. Frontier Developments is killing Elite.![]()
I disagree. I feel like negativity is killing Elite.
Negativity didn't release Alpha as a completed product.I disagree. I feel like negativity is killing Elite.
I made no such statement - you might need to re-read. I never said anything at all about what should be the case, and I never even mentioned truth. The conversation was about opinions...Which has nothing to do with your earlier statement that the weight of an opinion should be based not on truth but on whether one is a youtube personality.
Negativity is merely the symptom. Before Odyssey release, Yamicks was laughed at and basically ostracized because he was "always negative". Despite its flaws (no game's perfect), the majority of people was positive.I disagree. I feel like negativity is killing Elite.
