Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

So what is your problem with that exactly? That over 200k people have an interest in his opinion over (say) yours, or that he speaks at all? Maybe it's Youtube and social media in general you're against. It's really hard to tell...
Which he's perfectly at liberty to do. I don't really see any reason for complaint.

Ok, when there's a discrepancy in power, certain "opinions" have more weight than others. Treating OA's opinion the same as anyone else's does not make sense, as content creators wield power more than you or I. Content Creators should strive for objectiveness and take care to avoid social commentary whenever possible. If something is broke, fine, talk about it. A reviewer is entitled to review content, objectively. The moment they slip into a hyperbolic stance/opinion, however (see Yamiks) is when it gets toxic. It is an opinion that OA is skirting that line atm, and sometimes tipping over it.

I have no bone to pick with you personally either - but the point that an ex-player chooses to post a negative video of content they cannot currently play (console player) just because someone else expressed an opinion and that opinion is considered to be a valued one. (it could have been any other CC / Influencer from the youtube / twitch etc. platforms)

Just a correction here - this ex-console player has no desire to play Odyssey. I have no intention of buying it. I didn't need to be 'influenced' to come to that decision. I'm a big boy and capable of coming to my own conclusions about what games I want to play and how to enjoy them.

I posted the link to the video because I (sadly) agree with the content in it, and its relevant to the thread title. I think all (well, most) opinions are valid here - especially regarding products put on sale before they are clearly fit for sale.

Ok, so the console is gone... My error... But still an ex-player?
(as I wouldn't wish to be totally incorrect - if so I would, naturally, apologise wholeheartedly for the error)

Nonsense.

A Youtube channel is the content creator's own creation. You can have one too, all you need is a Google account, and a lot of patience and tenacity. People come to his channel for his opinion on things, as well as relaxing music, pretty visuals, and a soothing voice. That's steadily grown over however many years OA has been doing his thing.

Like any content creator, he has no responsibility other than to continue doing that for the 200k+ people that like that kind of stuff. If he wants to get hyperbolic sometimes, fine. It's his channel, and his opinion. Similarly, if Yamiks wants to get 'serious' for a minute, that's cool too.

You are perfectly free not to watch either, and I'm sure neither of them will lose any sleep over that. Nor will they stop doing their thing on their channel to their audience. 🤷‍♀️

You keep saying "should". That's just your opinion  They're free to completely ignore you.
Anyway, the whole 'power' thing is entirely a matter of cause and effect. Just like they they're expressing negative opinions about the state of the game. It's negative, and they call it as they see it. Fair's fair.

The toxicity of the content and the toxicity of the comments on these YouTube sites is too much for me. Who wants to read that. If they dont like Elite anymore, why continue to cover it? Oh I know why.

I can create a youtube channel, and broadcast an opinion, but I wouldn't likely have 200k viewers. The "you can do it too" argument does not affect the stance that current content creators' opinions have more weight than others.

200k+ people, in OA's case. + more for other creators.
They cover it because it's interesting and people are interested, and want to talk about it. Simple.

Yes, it's my opinion. Correct? Should be implied. Regardless, even though someone might "call it as they see it" doesn't necessarily mean what "they see" is true. Like my opinion/perspective, it's theirs; It's just that their perspective/opinion holds more social weight and should be treated carefully.

They continue to cover it for their own purposes. We agree on that. Whether its nobel to do it when hating the product your covering I would say is not.

Not played since last year. So....yes?

New DLCs are supposed to get people eager to buy it and play it. Sadly, that's not the case for me based on what I've seen and read about EDO.
In all seriousness, did you bother spending a couple of minutes of your life watching the tat I posted?
It is just play, no more or less, as I was making my own fun as well as doing some missions. (watching other folk play without a running commentary is boring, so a few munutes feels much longer!)
The FPS drops to 20 when I tab out (Nvidia Control Panel setting) but otherwise what you see is what I get. I don't think it would change your mind, but it is totally unbiased ;)

It's true to them, though - which is all that's needed for them to form an opinion and share it. If people are interested, and trust them, then yes: their opinions can shape what happens. You're 100% right that their opinion holds more social weight than yours, because they've got followers who are interested in and trust what they have to say. They have those followers because they did some work to generate them, and made content that was interesting. Cause & effect again....

I would say it's extremely noble - helping people avoid getting burned on the flaming dumpster is a good thing. Especially when there were little bowls with plants in them to play with as a distraction...

Just to expand on my POV - its not just EDO itself, its the wasted opportunity of it. 2+ years of development time but sadly a lot of stuff I wanted to see from space legs wasn't included or is plain bust right now. So, even as a potential Horizons-only player, there's nothing coming up which gets me excited to play the game again at present.

The lack of next-gen console support and lack of legacy bug fixing were the last nails in the coffin for this Commander, and I take no pleasure from typing that.

Lol what ? He was refused the key. Fdev said he was not doing "constructive feedback" or something.
As I said. He asked for a key and was refused. Then created a shouty on-screen drama over not getting something for free that he would, I guarantee, have bought himself. DRAMA!!!!!!!! lol.

OA and other had one for free, which is standard in the industry BTW.
OA said here in this very forum I believe that fdev offered him a key but he had already preordered. Industry standard indeed to give keys to influencers, and to choose not to for some people.

They also had a station and a box full of goodies.
Yes they did. And ... ?

And anyway, it's still very ironic that he is still there, while a lot of the others have jumped ship or greatly diminished their coverage for elite.
That's true, no argument there.

As I said, you need patience and tenacity too. OA didn't start with the subscribers he's got, and neither did Yamiks.

They only have more "weight" because you think they do. Really, they're just reaching a potentially wider audience. And they have an absolute right (nay, obligation I'd say) to say exactly what they think... be that good or bad.

You know, it is possible to watch an OA or Yamiks video and think "OK cool - don't agree with any of that - but fun video.". I do it all the time. 🤷‍♀️

More like a "feedback-loop" or "echo-chamber". People like feeling that others agree with them, and dislike cognitive dissonance.
