Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

That presumes that someone at the company still wants E: D to continue, and has the power to make that happen. That was always the hope when they released Planet Coaster, and then JWE, that they would "prop up" E: D. Maybe they have been doing. But there's no evidence from Frontier that if that even happened, it's going to continue.

As I've pointed out earlier, Odyssey's release is not Frontier's first or only faux pas. There's an ongoing pattern here going back since 2014 that it's impossible to ignore if you're objective about it.
But i think we should take in to account that leaping from Space Ship/SRV on to foot gameplay- is a gigantic step in a game that was all about Space Ships/SRV before.
This is one time one should remain a bit patient. Look at Horizon, people were mentioning how messy of a launch it was, but they managed to pull it through at the end.

I laugh at the comment the death of elite its been called for years yet here I am mining low temp diamonds and laughing

Believe what you will, until the servers are turned off (for the record, I don't think that will happen for a good while after they stop developing the game), and you can no longer play because they were untruthful about offline mode. 🤷‍♀️

Horizons launch was nothing like this. It was merely buggy - and it was a season so that guaranteed they would carry on working on it & improving it. There seemed to be a vision for where the game was going back then, which people (like me) could get onboard with & get excited by. Enough to keep playing and encouraging others to.

Odyssey is a tacked on low grade FPS from 2010 with zero originality or risk attached. There's no vision. There's no sense of where it will lead to next. This was it. You'll have had your "new era" then. 🤷‍♀️

Would you be generous enough to point me to where this statement was made - I missed that one!

Sure. Here you go.

Please point to the part which says what their long term plans (beyond console release, or 1.0 of Odyssey) for the game are. You won't find one. In fact, here is the relevant paragraph covering this exact point.

Future Progress: The Longer Roadmap

As mentioned in our previous post, our aim was to focus on the initial set of updates and then turn our attention back onto console. There’s no doubt that the additional development work on these updates and community requests pose a challenge on our previous plans and timelines. We are actively investigating, reviewing, and remeasuring the further roadmap but these things will take a little time. We understand that this may not be as much information as people may have wished for, but we hope that the open and transparent nature of this update means that you’ll bear with us while we pull those together. What we can say, is that through these monthly updates, we will be able to share and keep you informed every step of the way.

In other words, they haven't got a scooby, and don't know how to tell us that.

Well apparently thats 'in the pipe' now, according to Sally.

Will we see anything I wonder?
Only took a couple of years, it might even be sorted in another few!

Also I note that my post was edited, not sure what I said that caused offense? As in I literally can't remember... Seems I must try to tip toe around even more than I thought I already did.

Ummm... I don't actually see where they state there are no further plans for the game - only a roadmap in getting Odyssey onto console (possibly).

So, the claim that an actual statement has been given us, is, might I suggest, technically inexact?

Bruce was on another thread talking about piracy and the stream last night. I added a reminder about megaship piracy there and was acknowledged.

Exactly. Nothing beyond that, and that's precisely what they promised when they said that they'd do a live stream about it at the end of June (which turned into a forum post).

Clue: Odyssey players on PC don't give a monkeys about console releases, much less for consoles they don't even manufacture any more. What we need is some indication that they're going to continue development on the game, even after all the resources are focussed on getting it out on console.

So, the claim that an actual statement has been given us, is, might I suggest, technically inexact?

The absence of information is very telling, even if they can't tell us specifics. All they had to do in this situation was say something like "We have exciting plans for after the console release, but we are still working on the details of this, so we will share information on those as soon as we can."

Nope. Nada.

When quizzed on this repeatedly by multiple people in the thread - absolute stony silence.

Now you can argue that the refusal to answer this is not indicative of the absence of any plans. But that's a stretch, tbh, and very naïve. 🤷‍♀️

I've been a software developer for 25+ years. That means I know how projects are killed off in the corporate space... I've seen it all the time. The signs are always the same.

But if you want to believe that E: D has a bright future, crack on.

I see a project on its death knell, and the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. It's nothing more than a cash cow to Frontier, until it isn't. $400m off the share price means it isn't.

Ah, I see...
By sticking to the current project aspirations they have conclusively stated that there will be no further development - ok.
If I'm perfectly honest even if they made a statement of sorts regarding future plans .. after what they pulled with EDO I probably wouldn't believe them either way. So not sure if more promises make any difference at this stage - only facts will.

As with everyone who apologises for Frontier, I'll just say "Wait and see." 🤷‍♀️
Am I apologising? That isn't a very nice accusation to make!

Because you are insisting that by not saying something about future development while the work is ongoing, they have actually made a statement that they have no future plans, which stretches logis incredibly thin.

So, when I point out that your saying:
FDev have stated they have no future vision for the game
Is technically inexact (as it has not been said at all) I am "apologising for Frontier" - wow, just wow!
