absolutely, my weight is 121 lbs, I wouldn't dare to fire it even when laying on the ground, it would very likely break my shoulder. A "normal" rifle like the Ruger american compact rifle with .308 win ammo is fine though, even with my small and light frame.

It's not exactly full-pull longbows though. You can use a brace shoulder pad, or indeed brace against a solid object - indeed it's wise to, to improve aim.
i was hunting with a 75 lbs vertical bow (spiral horned antelopes, greater kudu) in south africa near the border of botswana. you need vambraces for the left arm because the string will eventually hit the forearm. The aim is important but even more important is to get near enough to the game, which is difficult, very difficult - you need to get as near as 40-50 yards before you can try a shot. And you have just one try, a hunting bow isn't a silent weapon, once you shot it, the game will move, because sound is faster than your arrow. Bow hunting is interesting, but it's really bad if you hit but not well enough - the game escapes and will be the prey of a lion then. Well, I don't regret to have done this, but I won't do it again without a real need to do so.
One mistake I see a lot of new shooters make (I made it myself too back in the day) is to lean back to compensate for the weight of the rifle/shotgun. You're setting yourself up for a posterior landing that way. If you can't "lean into" (forward) the gun, compensate by moving your left foot forward until you can. And for Bob's sakes, pull the stock into your shoulder as if your life depended on it, or the kick is going to be a lot more painful.
that's it - you need not be afraid if you just press it against your shoulder firmly and lean against it - it will have quite a punch, but your shoulder will absorb it, but if there is a distance between shoulder and rifle, the force will be concentrated on a smaller area and the energy be much greater on a smaller area - this can break bones eventually.
I get a feeling we're talking shop now, which, although I can do so endlessly (much to the chagrin of anybody around me) is entirely too serious so...
Can anybody explain to me why G-d made a perfect Eden, telling Adam and Eve they could have anything there, only they could't touch THAT particular tree and then expect them to not immediately go for it? I mean, He does know us humans better than anybody, right?

Interesting thought. Although, considering that He's omnipotent, it would seem to me that there were much easier ways at His disposal.
But, granted, maybe not quite as humorous. I mean, I'll do most anything for a laugh. Granted, the laughs often end up being at my expense, but let's not talk about that.

I read the book. Loved it. Then read it a few more times. Loved it again. Then lost the book, bought another, then read it again.
Then the show came out and I watched it and loved it once more!
Best, most funny without being offensive/insulting in any way possible book/show on the subject!
