i am interested to knowHow many active bugs are in the tracker these days?
How many thousands are at least a year old?
That may not be entirely true: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/mythbusting-human-eye-cannot-see-beyond-60-fps/420316to rip off your money. You do know that the human eye can't differ any frequency above 50Hz, don't you? Unless your an insect (They can, in fact, percieve a frequency above 100Hz).
so glad that they decided to prioritize PC. I came back to the game because of this. Console can wait.Greetings Commanders.
With the release of Update 5 on 1st July plus a few smaller server updates since, and Update 6 currently in development, I wanted to take a moment of your time to talk about the next steps for Elite Dangerous.
We are aware and fully accept the frustration that many of our players have had with their experience of Elite Dangerous Odyssey. The community have spoken, we have heard the feedback clearly and we will act on that feedback.
As you may remember in our recent development article, the significant amount of updates and development effort that has been done to fix and improve issues since the launch of Odyssey has meant work on our console release has not progressed as quickly as we had hoped. What’s more, we can see that the strides we have made through the last five major updates are positive, but we must continue on with this progress to give the experience that you and we expect on PC.
With those things in mind, we have spent a lot of time discussing and re-evaluating our previous plans and we have made the decision to prioritise the core PC experience for Elite Dangerous. Ultimately, we believe it is right to focus our efforts on the core Elite Dangerous Odyssey experience for the platforms that we have released on, before opening up to more. We know that the work that we do to improve players’ experiences of Elite Dangerous Odyssey on PC will benefit other platforms in the future, but the dates and details of the console platforms are going to change. We do not want to rush into confirming any dates or changes this has on our console release, as we must remain fully focused on the core Elite experience. Only when we feel that the foundation of the PC release is solid, will we be able to re-lay our console roadmap on top.
Elite Dangerous Odyssey is an important step on a complicated journey, and we must get this right, before we can consider moving on to these new platforms.
So what does this actually mean for Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous Odyssey?
It means that we will see more game updates over the coming months. We will continue to work through Issue Tracker, fix bugs and improve performance, but we will also be able to explore and add additional features, content and improvements into the game.
We will continue to give open monthly development updates where we discuss WIP content, challenges, the issue tracker and more. We know that the previous levels of detail for the roadmap and developer update have not met expectations, but we are grateful for your patience while we shift and adjust plans, in the face of such clear feedback.
Please remember that our team here at Frontier are working hard to support the game and our community. Behind every bug fix, design decision and community post is a person who cares a lot about giving our players best possible experience. I would ask that everyone remains calm and respectful when sharing their thoughts and feedback.
We all have the same goal and we will get there, together. Please bear with us.
o7 Commanders.
Gotta keep up with trends to stay competitive. Look at how many have claimed to jump ship to NMS. It's not just for the pretty colorsYou agree with him that a company selling a product they developed is 'greedy money grabbing' because Sean didn't charge for his NMS patches?
Are you saying it's a player's fault the game doesn't run well? I thought FDEV were the ones who made the game, not the players...But why should folk who have spent out for the latest PC hardware have to suffer a game written for obsolete 8 year old hardware. ?
Please just buy something that can run the game now and in the future, your hardware is now a relic and has held the game back for years.
Mining Bitcoins for FD?The fans spin down in the Galmap 2500rpm at 90 degrees, same in space, all can think is Odyssey is pre calculating planets within your jump range while you are in the station menu, what else could it be doing ? In a menu it should just be waiting for a mouse input.
this i am afraid is not true in terms of gaming....... it is about how it feels... 30fps actually gives me nausea in some games (some i can get away with but others border on unplayable for me)to rip off your money. You do know that the human eye can't differ any frequency above 50Hz, don't you? Unless your an insect (They can, in fact, percieve a frequency above 100Hz).
My 5700XT is doing a fair impersonation of a red giant while I am choosing the next mission, while my wife in the next room is turning the TV up to drown out my GPU fan.
I am not quite sure if "make up for fraudulent lies by improving the product for free beyond the original promises" really is an industry-wide trend, or if it is so, whether that is something to applaud...Gotta keep up with trends to stay competitive. Mining Bitcoins for FD?![]()
FDev reported that Odyssey would run just as well as horizons on current hardware, look how that turned out.

Before patch 5 i had 25-30 fps @1080p on foot missions on a 1070, with frequent drops below 30fps. I really envy anyone with worse than mine getting better performance. I was so frustrated that I got back to my star citizen account since performance are so similar XDI have a 1060 and an i5 4690 and getting a solid 30 fps.
I honestly think there is such a thing as being spoiled by high performance. When it drops, it becomes impossible for some to accept, even if it still runs at an acceptable rate. (And yes, 30 fps is acceptable. I know you know this but some don't it seems)
This goes out to anyone who felt "offended" by my lack of knowledge:this i am afraid is not true in terms of gaming....... it is about how it feels... 30fps actually gives me nausea in some games (some i can get away with but others border on unplayable for me)
take it to the extreme where there is really no hiding from it. if you tried vr on a 50hz panel you would most likely end up with a headache and super nausea in pretty short time.
on a monitor/tv i am actually fine with 60 fps, so if someone was arguing that it is no big deal if a game was running at 60fps and not 120 fps then whilst i would not argue it did not spoil their game i would know it would not affect mine (again assuming not in vr) but for me i generally try to get 60fps in my games and if need be will lower resolution or detail levels to do it (tho that would cheese me off as well tbh given i have a 3090 i have not yet played any game without rtx on a monitor which cant do locked 60fps 4k on my pc and ED really isnt all that much of a looker to be the one to be unable to do it.
You don't need to tell me how to optimise case air flow, I am 63 years old and have been building the things for long enough now .
Odyssey absolutely punishes my card for no apparent reason, 110 degrees C in the station menu, why ?

The rift uses a technology called 're-projection' which artifically 'doubles' the FPS. It does create some weird artifacts and odd lines here and there if you look closely, but it prevents nausea at lower FPS for most people. True, 'raw', 40FPS is very, very uncomfortable for most people. I am one of the few who can stomach it (although when used over longer periods of time it causes headaches), but my friends when they tried those settings invariably felt sick within seconds. This goes out to anyone who felt "offended" by my lack of knowledge:
Okay, maybe this 50Hz theory is debunked, fine. I'm just an old human being and therefore not omniscient. So please don't crucify me, okay?
I'm always down getting (gently) corrected so that I can learn a bit more. I really appreciate it guys!
Regarding my VR experience:
I'm using a Rift CV1 on a 1060Ti (with two more monitors connected), so my rig barely meet the specs. I never counted my fps but I'm pretty sure that I never got above the 40 fps. I never felt "sicknesses" of any kind in any game I played so far. Okay given, at the beginning of my "Home-VR" career I experienced a bit nausea but that didn't last for long and today I can sit under the hmd for hours (even in the SRV or PvP-Sessions within planetary rings) and the only thing I suffer from is "dehydration".
Maybe I'm an exception regarding vr-nausea, but it's simply my experience so far.![]()
That could be the case. I'm not so into the technical side of VR than into the amazing entertainment-factor.The rift uses a technology called 're-projection' which artifically 'doubles' the FPS. But I can all but assure you no human on this planet can endure hours of VR below 40FPS without reprojection or similar solutions. Our brains really, really cannot handle it.
