Sorry Yamiks and all naysayers, but Odyssey is BETTER than Horizons

Now that bugs have been fixed, and even if everything is not perfect yet, I can say it with some confidence. Some stuff dosen't work, yep, SRV still lags, yep, but IU is actually better once that you've figured it out, the game has more to offer, and perf-wise, well, it will get better (it already had) but if you haven't upgraded you PC since Horizons in 2015 and you expect to play Odyssey 60FPS in 2021, I mean, wake up... Also, myself I had a lot of reservations against the game at first, before realizing that actually what I had in mind existed, simply iI haden't noticed (like the toggle-switch in equipment IU to avoid selling your old equipment). The more I play it, the more I realize that most issues we had simply don't exist, but people (Latvia anyone?) don't want to plainly admit that.

Yamiks, as much as I dislike him, has a point in nearly everything that he says and is nearly never wrong when looking at the situation at face value; he should be respected as someone who has a certain degree of understanding of how this stuff works. Some day though, I wish....he would learn that we are in this together, and that being negative about a situation is a lot less effective than being positive, but...I can understand his frustrations. At least he is honest about it. Respect him more than other content writers who pretend to be rational only to bend towards negativity when their community leans that way.

No no I have been crashing to Desktop every 25 minutes so not better than Horizons yet !!!!!

Yamiks does do both he will both the good things and the bad things with his thoughts but he puts it all out there for everyone to think about

Yes, he does. Just wish that one day...Yamiks and the rest of the community could align...Again, what Yamiks is saying isn't really wrong...I'd say that Yamiks' streams are more accurate than any other, w/re: game quality. I just wish there was more compassion and patience regarding trying to solve the issues that are brought up.

You're a bit narrow-minded don't you think... You can praise it that it works for you but not everybody else is in the same boat. Not all the bugs have been fixed and there are still performance issues. Also, not everyone has the cash to upgrade their PC 's. But hey good for you.

I think this is an interesting post, but mostly because it is a post that tries to invalidate the issues, concerns and frustrations of a part of the community.

Objectively: We still see some people rocking an 3080/3090 still have big performance drops on settings that their PC should more than handle. The issue does not rest on the people who are rocking sub-par systems and expect the game to run smooth. The issue is people with recommended or better hardware are still facing some noticeable issues.

What your post also ignores are other types of issues or concerns other CMDRs are having aswell.
Your post also doesn't objectively specify in what parts Odyssey is better than Horizons, and it objectively cant. because its subjective. You can argue planets look better with an atmosphere but others can argue the lack of variety, color, and complex surface layouts make planets too copy/pasted compared to horizons. etc

In the end, your post comes down too... You personally are not experiencing the same issues or concerns as others. Because of this you aren't able to understand or validate them and as a result you feel they simply don't exist.

If you're having a great time and this is all the gameplay, communication and reliability etc you need from Frontiers and Elite, please, please continue out there CMDR and have your fun. But please do not try to invalidate the concerns and issues of others.

Agreed (good H2G2 ref BTW).
Ultimately, some bloke on the internet said something - who cares!!
(That goes for whatever I post too)

EDI: Forgot to say - I prefer odyssey to Horizons, too!
Maybe you don't care, but influencers are a real thing this days. Company cares about what they say. A lot more than a bunch of guys in a forum. In fact, companies doesn't care much about what we say on forums, in the grand scheme of things, it was proven to have little impact on the game itself, due to how biased the forum community is.
Also Yamicks is one of, if not the one, with the most sub who do majorly ED content. And of all of them, he is one who continue to do so, while many have moved on or limited their coverage of the game.

Which as I said earlier is very ironic. Because most people thought he took pleasure bashing the game or something, and didn't like it, while he is probably one who like it most.

Don't you worry about a world where 'influencers' are a thing?
Like lemmings to a cliff (yes I know they don't really jump over cliff edges !). "I must be an individual", as I agree with what x says on the internet - please tell me what to think next. George Orwell wouldn't believe the world we have ended up becoming!

(I think I woke up feeling grumpy this morning)

Oh no, the world is run by influencers !

It's been that way since the first caveman drew a mammoth on a cave wall and they called him a "shaman".
Athenian Greeks complained about "influencer" using "dialectic" in the Forum, 500 BC. It turned their democracy into a tyranny.
Roman complained about them to, -50BC. Caesar destroyed the democracy and was the origin of the Imperial Rome. And that was under literal triumph from the population.
Medieval people complained about them, through the use of books and various people. Lead to the Renaissance.
Which in turn lead to widespread books and pamphlets, thanks to printing press. Which, in turn lead to the religious war when some guy put his "pamphlet" on the door of the church criticizing the Church, and said pamphlet became viral all over Europe. He was named Luther.
Then came easier communications and the very educated "bourgeoisie". Lead to the French Revolution (and all the lasting consequences and ripple effect). Also the end of slavery for Europe and a large part of the world.
Then came the daily news. And their famous paper.
Then came the communists. And their "international", commune etc...
Then came the radio. And famous radio host.
Then came the TV. And famous TV show.
Then came Internet.
Then came the influencers.

Name change. Same people.

You are deluded if you think influencers are new. Those one, yes. Overall ? No. You always have relatively charismatic and vocal people. And everytime a new form of communications happen, so they come. And people listen to them.
For better of for worse.

And every step along the chain, the people became easier to control. The internet is both amazing and terrifying.

Nice diatribe, and Judging by people saying "Yamiks said this, Yamiks said that", then yes it is.

Not deluded about 'Influencers' being a new phenomenon. It's just easier to be one now / reach a wider audience.
At least in the past some form of semi-literacy was required (checks spelling several times :) ), not just a webcam and an ability to shout / swear.

Oh well - who am I to argue - if people want to be lead then so be it - nice source of revenue for those doing the 'influencing' I suppose.

Actually Yamiks is the one I watch when I want to hear some good farts in spaaace.
Big laughs.

Yeah, I know, I'm a gross guy.
