Imp eagle mission runner

Since buying this ship and flying it. I'd decided there n then it was a fine replacement for a missile toting huge chieftain.
Can land anywhere. Is equipped to deal with any eventuality. I'd already decided not to bomb bases anymore.
On foot sometimes picks up bountys and npcs will interdict. That's where the fun begins. Sod the mission on foot..but l don't wanna die so l fight ships of all kinds.
Run away too if my hulls on its way out no sinks and shields long gone. But all of a sudden the shields pop back !
Yay!
The turrets still firing and I'm out of missiles .. but oh boy fly out synth some new ones and go nail that f***er.
Ohhh forgot to mention the imp hammer@! Love this wep

I bought an Imperial Eagle for local data courier missions for its speed. It also looks cooler than my slower, longer jump range Cobra which I use as a run about. I was doing a two system, four station courier run and earning about 5 million a trip. That's half of my weekly FC upkeep cost. It has now become my Odyssey battle chariot, delivering my CMDR and SRV to foot mission sites. Equipped with three dumbfire missile racks I can more quickly dispose of ground opponents. And it looks really cool. Death from above!

I'm using an Imperial Eagle as my main foot scavenging ship. It's fast, can land in tight spots, has decent missile hardpoint placement, and, crucially, has great SRV clearance. I tried the DBX and iCourier in the role but the SRV would sometimes get wedged underneath when operating on rough ground. I would prefer the iCourier for its internals but the SRV clearance is a deal breaker for me.

I would spend 3 mths out at a plat triple or deep core somewhere. But I'm already rich ha... but yes it's easier as you can pretty much stay on foot using cabs.
I was getting cabs out of combat zones?

I fell in love with the Imperial Courier for Odyssey stuff, though I deliberately omit an SRV bay because my courier is tuned for speed (850m/s) and that 6T really cuts it down. Even at this speed though, it's quite tanky with over 600m/j of shield and a PD turret. I'm trying to find a fun single-target weapons load that I can trim down and still keep 850MS boost speed. I really want to find a way to make pack-hounds work lol. I can have 2 lightweight engineered and still retain 850M/S but another weapon drops me to 836 even with light weight engineering.

Dolphin definitely my go-to ship for Odyssey. Small, fast, agile and even though it lacks in offensive capabilities, it more than makes up for it with the room for optional internals. Excellent jump range as well of course, makes all those trips to IFs a bit more bearable.

Same, when I first started Odyssey I bought an iEagle, thinking like OP and the others did, but then I got curious about the iCourier and now it's my one true love. Now that most of my on foot weapons are engineered or close to done I'm finally starting on engineering my ship, the first step being the engine. So far I've only gotten to G3 dirty, hoping to add drag once I get the mats, then I'll work on the last 2 levels. Even at G3 though the increase in speed is exciting.

Though I'm a bit disappointed that the results are random, I had no idea that was the case and I have no idea what the max possible result on a "roll" is :(

Just my 2 pennies worth, but for your thruster experimental on small ships like the iCourier or Adder (I actually prefer how the Adder flies, but the iCourier has such better shields, hardpoints and cockpit view it’d be rude not to!) you might get better results from drive distribution I think it’s called, over drag drives; especially with those snazzy Enhanced Performance Thrusters it will increase the optimal mass value which is a big deal when every fraction of weight counts.

I'll take that under consideration, thanks!

The problem with iEagle (and most of the small ships) is it cannot fit a size 4 SRV hangar.
Having 2 Srv can help one recover faster when loosing a srv...

I'm using something like this DBX

Here’s my build as it currently stands with just up to G2 drives, with drag experimental; and with drive distributor experimental to illustrate the difference. Speedybois for the win!
Awesome, bookmarked for referencing later on today. Quick question, is "enhanced performance" simply what they're called once you engineer them or are they a specific thruster you buy?

I guess that makes sense for an explorer/exobiologist who relies heavily on the SRV. After all there are those invisible rocks hiding out there just waiting to ruin your day...

A specific thruster available up to class 3 I believe, for sale at engineer bases. They’re power hungry but, ahem, enhance the fun flight profiles of the little ships. I’m no expert though!

Gotcha, luckily I've decided to stay in Deciat for a while (solo of course haha) so I guess I'll see about buying one of those. It wasn't nearly as much of a nightmare as I feared it to be, 650k exploration data was enough to give me level 3 access to Farseer, and I was able to buy a meta alloy for 900k from a nearby fleet carrier.

I love the Viper Mk IV for that role. It's got jump range. Just as versatile as the Cobra really but without the wide spread of the hardpoints. It can land anywhere. Something I have learned the Python can definitely NOT do. If I plan to do any on-foot work it's been a solid workhorse.

9/10 Cockpit cats prefer Imperial Couriers a survey recently concluded.

The Diamondback Scout is an objectively superior choice to the Imperial Eagle (that build at least) because:
  • it's faster
    • boosts to 600m/s
  • it has tougher shields
    • 389Mj raw with reinforced + hi-cap 3A; 600Mj effective thermal resistance
    • 192Mj raw with thermal resistant 3C biweaves; 538Mj effective thermal resistance
  • it has higher potential DPS
  • it enjoys more flexibility in hardpoints
    • 2xC1, 2xC2.
    • Oh. You like missiles? Here, have 200 missiles
  • it has better single-jump range
    • 45LY.
    • This means almost all missions you take will be one jump away within the 40LY cube that the transaction server uses
  • it has better multi-jump range before refuel
    • 188LY
  • it refuels quicker
    • 1:30 to completely refill the c4 tank
  • it has more flexible utility mounts
    • 4.
    • You like heatsinks? Here, have heatsinks with your shield boosters.
  • it runs significantly cooler
    • resting heat 30%
  • it can equip a class 1 cargo rack if you chance upon any high-value commodities planetside.
  • it has the chromed paintjob.
You can find the build here.
