False for the first one. Indeed the team tool is pretty solid and works well.
For the second, it's true you will fall through floor from time to time.

As a Solo miner you want to be looking at the MSIC Prospector with a Helix mining head, the Mole is a 4 crew ship, one pilot and 3 mining stations, the pilot cannot mine, unless you want to move between seats.

As long as you're aware that the Mole is a multicrew dependent ship...that is you can't fly and actively mine from the pilot seat. You'll need some friends along to operate one. The pilot flies (bus driver) and there are 3 external crew operated mining 'cabs'.

The best start as an initial (and only other) mining ship will be the MISC Prospector. You can also mine planetary deposits in SC with the mining ships as well as the usual space 'roids...then there's the ship transportable ROC mining buggies. Planet-side ship mining is certainly different to what we were all used to in ED ...I don't have a recent video with the new mining UI and ship HUD, but the short video below will give you a rough idea.

As for being randomly griefed or ganked...it can happen but it's not as common as you'd imagine even with some of the fruitier trolls targeting miners. Just mine away from the easily accessible planetary outposts or select out of the way asteroid clusters and it's not an issue, the more casual griefers generally have the attention span of wasps and won't go looking for you if you're not near an outpost they can Quantum drive to. Besides the recent spate of pad strafing, I can't remember the last time I was ganked or griefed, mining or otherwise.

If you really want a comparison between SC and ED though...One is a complete experience with occasional frustration, the other is complete frustration with occasional experiences. I'll leave it up to you which one is which ;)
