Well, there is something funny going on on quantum level - If I had to find a reason for that, it may be even somehow related to ED.

except in the instance of quantum states and superposition, the observation doesn't dictate that the thing existed or not. just a state of that thing being some particular value or not. So it materially exists regardless of being observed by a conscious observer (and observe in these quantum cases doesn't require a human, but anything interacting - and thus observing the given state)

Reality may be just better optimized, and is not "calculating" some details if they are not received (observed/measured) by anyone/thing.

I would normally have been playing most of the evening, but as the temperature in here is 26c currently, the thought of adding another 200w+ of heat into the room is less than attractive, so I'll have to spend the time until this glass of Guinness is gone fraternising with you lot!

Recently moved, but when I lived in Florida I played with a PC that put out 1000w of heat when it was 35c inside.

Strip down to your knickers, turn the box fan on, stick that next beer between your legs and get to it slacker.

You mentioned something I really like about quantum physics vs mystic mumbo-jumbo.

I realized some time ago, that all those "gurus" claims allegedly basing on some properties of quantum physics that (human) (sub)consciousness/whatever is the reason that reality exists/fixes itself onto specific states from quantum probabilities,
can be easily falsified by noticing the fact, that setting any simple measuring and recording device will trigger the same "response" from "reality".

So, human "minds" have more or less the same "reality creation" potential as some simple photon traps

but it was implied i had none, so why would that then suggest anything about food and taste buds?

if anything, the active imagination user would not need spices, they could just imagine them. Those without imagination would need the spices.

I should have tons of spices in this scenario. Not none.

So i assumed, that other than the post being stupid as would be suggested by missing the above logical pathway, that the post was creating a totally nonsensical relationship between the post and response.

290x Lightning and a Haswell HEDT, actually, plus a 5.1 surround sound system hooked to a home theater and lots of miscellaneous hardware.

The GPU alone pulled 550w. It's hanging on my wall right now in early retirement.

i think that idea/notion was born from pop sci reporting on the terms that physicists use and the models they use to explain theories.

the public interacts with the pop sci places reporting on things...not usually directly with physicists... so you get these interpretations that are out of context in subtle ways that lead to drastically different conclusions than intended.

look at black holes. most people will tell you they look like a funnel ...because that's the model they're most familiar with. which is a simplified model not intended to actually describe what they actually look like. just a particular aspect.

Just to pause for the weekend weather report on the State of the Game:

Absolutely no change from yesterday and that's expected to continue into next week. There's a high pressure zone of "no information" sitting right on top of us that is keeping the existing state of patch5 with us with no signs of any kind of patch6 fronts on our radar for the weekend.

It's expected that patterns of "recycled complaints and issues" will periodically sweep over the forum for the next few days as this high pressure zone starves the area of new things to complain and lose hope about.

There's a chance we may see an uptick in suggestions towards the end of the weekend, but it's unlikely those will cause any issues for the Doom commute on monday.

I am indoors, and we don't have AC. It's probably warmer inside than it is outside, actually. All I can do is open my windows and run my crappy desk fan.

It's 18 degrees here now (nearly midnight). Due to have temperatures of 22-24 degrees for the next two weeks. That's way too warm for my neck of the woods.
