It's definitely rose in fame with the general public thanks to memes, but I'm not sure they can headline a pack. I was actually surprised to see the Fennec (and north african theme) in the african pack, because I assumed they'd reservethe fennec to headline a desert/arabian pack.

For all the other intended packs there were heavy hitters which were not in the base game, but the two most obvious heavy hitters for SEA (the orangutan and komodo dragon) were both used in the base game, with the komodo used specifically to flagship the deluxe edition.

I also think that the moose and cougar are the only heavy hitters left for general audiences (except aviaries and marines of course), so I wander what will be the way going forward.

Most obvious heavy hitter from SEA is Lar Gibbon, literally the best entertaining animal to watch for casual audience. This animal has it all to bring crowds.
Beside it:
  • Sea lion
  • Any small cat species
  • Marsupials
  • Whatever animal as far as it is cute or famous in public media. YT views also boost animal popularity a lot.
For aviary pack cover animal definitely will be macaw species.

Here in the forum the Gibbon is beloved, but I'm not sure casual players would even know what a gibbon is.

Same i can say about komodo dragon. In fact casual players probably know gibbons, but associate them with monkeys. Perfect occasion to teach them they are apes like gorillas.

And what if the Cougar would be released among the other South American species like capybara, maned wolf, sloth, coati, spectacled bear and howler monkey?

I think that would be a nice and unexpected twist to see Cougar in a different pack than NA.

Everything is possible and with Frontier you never know, but since we already have a South America pack, I think it is much more likely that the cougar comes in a North America pack or even a mountain pack than in a South America 2 pack.

Totally agree with you but if he is not in America he can also be in a felines or Carnivore or Meat Eater pack. So there are plenty of possible choices.

You can't add animals that go against the current game limitations. Until Frontier adds true aquariums we can't have fully aquatic animals.

You're just wasting a slot on your list.

Question: isn't it maybe a better idea to list the lynx the way you list the leopard?

Lynx (Eurasian: X, Iberian: X, indifferent: X)
I think that might be a more fair representation of the votes for lynxes?

(and yes, I'm one of the people who just put 'lynx', I'm fine with either Iberian or Eurasian)
