Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 6

Reactivation missions are no longer a thing.
I did after patch a bunch of on-foot missions. Amongs them one was reactivation. Then 5 in a row crash site missions, each giving me 1-2 regulators (did not notice so many before). The only bug I found was items spawning under planet surface. So hope it to be fixed or developers give us a showel to dig for those items.
 
the new planet tech looks good, frame rates have improved for me, so im quite happy
Some planets are good other not or unsharp. Framerates are the same without FSR. With FSR the image quality is really worse and that at using 4k resolution...
Stuttering/drops at Settlements... still as hell and since update 5!

Because theoretically FSR is the more advanced tech, and it's recomanded by AMD to remove the old tech implementation.
However i'm not sure it works actually better on 1080p screens, at least on my old card (980M), which officially isn't even supported.
I have the impression that i was better off with CAS, but i can't be sure, also because i suspect that the general performances of the concourse (where i do tests with the texts) is worsened in update 6 (but i still think it looked better)

Yeh looking at the amount of people with 1080p screens not happy with FSR it's probably s reasonable request to have the option of FSR or fallback to CAS with manual scaling options. I wonder if it's possible to implement both?

I cannot use FSR on my 768p screen, unless I want MSDos level resolutions.

I have to use Supersampling to improve the quality, get rid of jaggies, I could use the Nvidia sharpening, but CAS was much better.

I guess I’ll just have to take the performance hit for now running with supersampling on 1.5x.
 
I'm pretty happy, this list has several long standing requests and overdue fixes. Will log in to have a look soon!
 
So in conclusion... such a long list of fixed bugs and nearly nothing changed. I don´t understand what´s their priority but this update is hot air... nothing else. 😡
I dont get it either. 2 texture anomalies on the shotgun were fixed, it still cant aim down sight or change livery without getting a black adder.
Its as if looks is everything and functionality doesn't matter at all.
 
1 second loot delay just needs to go away.

The ninja scavengers are just a pain now.

Slight fps improvement but still inadequate.
 
And that is exactly why we need the CAS option back. Because it is designed for that, unlike FSR.

Yea, not sure what the point of removing options is really. They were advised by AMD, probably AMD just want their best tech front and centre so.
 
@sallymorganmoore - the AMD FSR issue in VR has reached “confirmed” status overnight, and my Xbox controller issue is apparently due to a new “Diving Misc” menu option that had defaulted to “off” for some reason.

As an aside regarding Issue Tracker - several reports I’d been looking at over the past few weeks had received 10 apparently unique confirmations but not ticked over into “Confirmed” status, probably because one or more of the contributors hadn’t clicked the “can reproduce” button. Any chance that it can be changed such that one of the three buttons has to be clicked before a confirmation can be submitted?

Hello! I'm loving the UI changes so far (particularly on foot), but ive got a question?

I'm at the Hyford's Cache site right now. There are 2 new beacons here. One Ship's Data Core, and one Comms Control. Both are giving the same message. Are they both supposed to do that? Or is it supposed to be 2 different messages and this is just a new bug?

Edit: Also August 27 🛸!

Not to sound like a broken record here, but are there supposed to be 2 scannable data points at Hyford's Cache? Because there is 2, and they both give the same message. Is there supposed to be more data (like a system location)? Or is the tease for August 27th all that there is to find?

Hello! I'm back! Can confirm all sounds correct and intended with this :) There are two and both with the same message.
 
I've been reading through this threadnaut (a bit), to try and ascertain if Odyssey was worth installing again after update 6.

Seems like some things are better, some things are worse, and it's therefore a typical Frontier patch. 🤷‍♀️

I'll wait. Lots of work still to do it seems.
Besides the performance issues (which aren't changed much except for who have the proper configuration for FSR to work well, while it's worse for who relied on CAS), i think there are some good improvements in update 6

The sheer amount of bugs and performance issues completely over shadows anything that is good about Elite at this point. Damage control done by the CMs even thou noticeable such as communication on forums and engagement with the forum users is a very welcome change still lack the additional steps such as giving anything as consolation (twitch drops that became non existent even thou we've been told they will come back) no support for the content creators that now left Elite for other games. If it goes on the game will be left only with the "hardcore" fans and all that we will see on the weekly streams will be stellar screenshots for which you don't need high fps or proper overall lightning with occasional streams of the CMs playing the game badly for an hour or so. Most of the rating of the Odyssey add-on are very low or just average and that's even before the hellstorm that will happen when the game will launch on consoles(if at all at this point, at least not on old gen consoles). So yeah, I don't see why there are people here on forums praising any work done by Fdev with Elite.
Sorry for the long post, had to rant.
