State of the Game

hrm.. in regards to 6.01.. i'm very surprised they didn't make "hold e to loot" not an option. but instead just reverted it.

They thought enough people wanted it to implement it in the first place. I dont get that kind of development process... was the request for it not real?
IDK about "demand", what I know is that adding option to skip waiting by pressing "pick up" key/button twice would satisfy both : "careful" and "key spamming" types of players.

I'd have to assume to credit the change due to resolving accidental theft - such reports of accidental theft would have to be fairly high. Unless they're just making things up.

If I were to "make things up" I would say someone slowly-thinking but pretty important in FD tried to play the game and got killed by guard after he picked up illegal item "unwillingly" what led him to submitting a suggestion demand to add some mechanism preventing such misfortunes.

Because it surely wasn't an idea that came from gaming community.

Did we ever ascertain whether he was from the House of Lords, though? That point is still rather vague to me.
They'd seen his face before, but nobody was really sure.

Some thought he might have been the egg man.

Here's a cat:

You mean we've finally located the utter git who's the reason why sleeping aids come with the warning "may cause drowsiness"?

I've been hunting that waste of protein all my life!

they're avoiding the whole Jaques thing almost as much as they avoid acknowledging powerplay.

Either they're trying really hard to keep a rather obvious secret or there's a super weird reason why no characters of note (no PP characters, nobody but engineers) have been implemented in-game.

Does it really matter? I've visited Jaques station many, many times and have not missed not seeing him not serve me a drink so far, as for the rest of the characters, why worry, it isn't as if pledgers delivered to the smurf in person... Although I suppose if a suitable 3D model of her could be made, it would keep the filthy Imps occupied, and not flying around in the game, for ever 🤷‍♂️

Yes.
But there are hundreds of millions more.

As a petrolhead I like to watch the traffic when I am driving and look for absolute idiots who can't predict even the most obvious course of action when it requires processing the probable timeline further then one second into the future, what ends with chaotic "last moment" maneuvers or abrupt stopping and completely blocking the traffic.

Sadly, this game is too easy.
There are plenty of them, like pests.

I wonder every time how they managed to NOT kill themselves over years, considering how many bad decisions / reactions they must have made through their lives.

It kind of undermines my faith in reality being what it's supposed to be - probabilities just don't "compute".
Them being a "temporary spawned", badly coded NPCs seems like a more plausible (probable) explanation.

;)

details make a huge difference. A lot of effort is spent in making the materials in the game look "realistic" to the point of massive detriment to the performance of the game. yet we still strive for that detail. Similarly, lore details within the game and characters existing as more than just text or a 6 year old static image adds to the game in ways that are beyond the tangible.

Such details as seeing important characters in the game, that are referenced within the game are not seeking the unreasonable ...just obvious world building details within a game of elite's caliber.

Seeing Jaques makes some sense, but not the PP characters. Why would Aisling Duval entertain a mere CMDR in her court. - The Amazon guy doesn't meet Biden when he delivers a parcel.

Not all of the PP are so hands off. Grom i could see on the deck of a cap ship involved in some dispute. Antal - I could also see out and about. Others as well would probably routinely be on diplomatic missions to various parts of their territories. The powers are not all elected officials in some government position.

But more importantly, it would make sense to have them modeled in-game so that you can create new assets involving them. Instead of only having the same stupid portraits created when PP was in beta.

There was a newly modelled 3D portrait of the smurf in a CM post sometime around a year ago, which looked rather good, but has never been seen since.
I don't disagree that the portraits should be updated, that would make some sense as they wouldn't add any further load to the game (bar the Imps (& @MishaTX ) being stuck on a single screen for hours), but there is no scenario in the game where meeting the 'leaders' in person happens.

Jaques is the same, would he still be serving behind the bar, in truth? More likely sitting on his fortune and people watching...

imagine how much more fun a CZ would be if you found out the cap ship that jumped in had some well known character on board and he/she was on the comms saying whatever.

I guess you'd have to be powerplay level of invested in the game to appreciate the effect that would have on players in the CZ ...to make it not just another copy-paste CZ. But one that is personally being participated in by say some Power or general or such that you've read about in galnet.

I can tell you ...if they implemented General Zaan and had him appear in Utopian battles - rallying his Enforcers, it would turn a routine grind farm ...into a glorious battle
