State of the Game

There was a newly modelled 3D portrait of the smurf in a CM post sometime around a year ago, which looked rather good, but has never been seen since.
I don't disagree that the portraits should be updated, that would make some sense as they wouldn't add any further load to the game (bar the Imps (& @MishaTX ) being stuck on a single screen for hours), but there is no scenario in the game where meeting the 'leaders' in person happens.

Jaques is the same, would he still be serving behind the bar, in truth? More likely sitting on his fortune and people watching...

Jaques was a bartender for 2 hundred years despite being rich enough to own an entire station and then update it to jump across the galaxy. I think unless the narrative has him returning to his black ops roots and he's now "Salvation" ...he would still be a bartender for sure.

Wouldn't that be a doozy! 🥳

One could see a way to retcon / reveal the actions of jaques across the entire game as having been part of a plan he has had in motion to oppose "The Club" - an organization he could be indirectly responsible for creating 300 years ago... We know he was created by the fed's to be a black ops soldier but wasn't totally pro-military. He was tortured by the empire for years if not decades but never gave them what they wanted it would seem. They didn't kill him for some reason, so he must contain some knowledge about something that killing him would lose. That makes him seem oddly integral way more than a random soldier from 300 years ago should (and he's the only such survivor we ever hear about).

I think the lore they could build around jaques eclipses the whole formadine rift story by an order magnitude ... Though they've alienated the only remaining good fiction writer probably capable of doing all of that in a cohesive way that wont be fumbled badly through disjointed galnet stories and bad puzzles

After 200 years of living and interacting with people you probably know what everyone around you will do long before them.
It's a lot of time to learn patterns of human behaviors.

Which means being a bartender has a purpose beyond simply being a hobby he enjoys.

I think Jaques is one of the original members of the Club before it became the Club. I think his position as bartender was used as a cover ..and as an espionage tool.

i'm not convinced he's not still a member if not the leader of the Club rather than some opposition of it. His actions and their plans are in alignment so far. His long life and experience makes him super-human in his ability in politics and strategy.

Really you could go either way with him. But i dont think he would abandon his cover unless he was ready to end the subterfuge either way....so he would still be a bartender otherwise.

I'm a President you know?
Where's my tapioca pudding?

What's the fun of being a president if I can't sniff hair of young girls anymore because it's allegedly creepy?

Still better than what the last one wanted to do to young women (including his daughter). So we're improving!

Well, being tricked into choosing the (slightly) lesser evil is great summary of modern democracy.

But let's not dig too deep into this, it's wrong to SERIALLY talk about such disgusting thing like politics here.

(Lacking in creep)

I followed the campaign slogan of Montgomery Brewster during the last election and voted for "NONE OF THE ABOVE", so no lesser evil on my part.

And here's a cat:

It is encouraging that patch 7 wasn't a month away from patch 6.

They really need to go with a frequency of updates that limits how many total changes are being included in each update so feedback and regression/bug reporting can more easily be done to reflect the changes in a given patch. Weekly probably works well at this time. Or even bi-weekly.
