State of the Game

Ah, but this patch today wasn't really a patch by the definition of patches then, since the patching it was doing was primarily to patches being caused by the previous patch?

Also, here's a dog called Patch, sitting at a pumpkin patch:

I had a gerbil once. It came from Germany. I called it Joeseph. It ran its own newspaper that continually decried cats. I don't get out much.

I'm still very bitter that there's no off-line DOOM. I very nearly asked for my money back but instead have spent the last five years in the forum being actively bitter. SOMETHING IN CAPITALS! THAT MAKES MY POINT. PERIOD!
you should be bitter. fdev forced an mmo without the infrastructure to feed it content or do anything with the community content.

so it's like, let's do what we would do with an offline game, but marry it to all of the negative aspects of having an mmo with none of the positives.

both options are being wasted.

Wonder if blizzard will even survive this complete nuclear meltdown they are having.

If not, the new company is gonna have a fun time renovating their campus. And they'll have to change the street name it's on too. And i'll kinda miss seeing the statues and big ole blizzard sign.

To be (sorry) serious for a moment, the best description I heard used for ED was a toy-box. It chimed with me at the time and it has helped to approach it as a box full of toys to play with, rather than a single coherent game to play (let alone win).

Here's a bat (no, not a cat):

...now, where did I put my tiddly-winks?

It's @Bottom Hat evaluating your stuffz for future hazzing.

Got to do your research old boy ;)

Thanks for that, I haven't laughed so hard in a while!

(PS You are joking right...? ...and Rubbernuke's pies are real and legit, right??? If not... well... I'm going to have a lot of explaining to do at the old people's home...)

Ummmm....yes, and no, but at the same time and never separate. Does that help?

unrelated side-note. Why is nobody in the elite universe concerned about where the destroyers of the guardians went and what they're doing now?

They weren't the thargoids.

They weren't destroyed by the guardians.

They apparently were advanced and strong enough to fight off the thargoids and kill their (the robot's) makers.

They've had a million years to continue advancing and do what they want.

Yet, 0. No chatter about them ...no concern from the people researching guardians. No conspiracy theory radio about it (remember that guy? ..back when galnet was cool)

That doesn't make sense. Fear of what these robots can and might do should pervade the news and be a huge concern. It should be hugely concerning that no such evidence of their current location has been found ...nor any past evidence of their activity since the guardians time.

this is what i think the formadine rift was supposed to end on...evidence of this robot race ...secluded in the bovomit sector ...minding their own business. But Fdev doesn't want to invest any real money in a game they obviously only intend to troll the players of with. (Yea, we'll give you space legs you nerds ...but only in the form of a first person shooter you never asked for!...muhahahaahah)

Exactly this! I've always played this way and never had to 'grind' once... if I'm off on a pew-pew, just have your limpets roaming and collecting, if 'sploring, land on a few planets, gather a few stuphs but not enough to be tedious, wake scan one or two ships on every jump/station and soon you've suddenly got loads of everything and can crack on with engineering etc. Even money making - I loved the relaxation of core mining in VR (still love the boom of an exploding asteroid!) so credits build up over time.
As you say, you have all these things to play with, but I think so many players want a grade 5 engineered everything on a 'conda within 3 days of playing the game, and it just ain't that sort of beast... but a game to quietly lose hundreds of hours of basically "mucking about" - yeah, can't beat Elite!

The Formidine Rift turning into a QAnon conspiracy theory is still the most depressing thing about ED.
