Elite Dangerous Odyssey: Update 6.01

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this... but I noticed that the mission board's empty. (specifically at Ocrinox's Orbiter) Even the Mission Provider NPCs don't have any available.

Then FDev should pay the money back to the people who are dissatisfied. Then it's quiet here and nobody complains anymore.
once again doomed?
...well, some 'people" are here to post ( I think, in fact, they were "bot" gender), they never played Elite :D, saying dumb things like "don't pay subs, revolt" :D

it's not like you even have to use it, just click the route icon instead.
Problem is, there are 2 functions time separated:
  • hold 2/3 of second -> selection
  • hold 3/2 of second -> route plot

Similar idea was in windows 98 - "stop moving mouse over to get item selected" - and where is it? Lost in times because bad.

What is the point though. We get told what the patches are supposed to fix and in the patch notes for 6 I don't remember increased framerates being mentioned. So do you think they have stopped working on them?

When do you think FDEV will get around to releasing a patch with notes that, specifically, mention "increased framerates"?

If you don't want to wait, click the 'plot' icon on the right side of the map.

I don't see your point. The maps are really more useful in EDO than in EDH when you get the around them.

What's with the overly dramatic jpg?
they were not given the time before release because the whole thing was rushed out.

Just a, friendly, reminder that we're going on 3 months here. You seem to be Ok with FDEV releasing a game, at a minimum, THREE MONTHS before it was ready. How long are looking at for a fix here? How about an, actual, technical update about the problems they are seeing and/or working on?

Do you think the devs did it on purpose? They had no choice in the matter and I'm fed up of players blaming them for the situation we find ourselves in. They will be under resourced for the task they have to do because that's how poorly managed projects are run. Blame management by all means, but don't be one of those "experts" every game forum seems to be populated with, telling the devs how easy it is to fix.

Why do you think he's talking about programmers (or whatever falls under the category 'devs' for you) when he says FDEV?

He was clearly addressing the company as a whole which means first and foremost the people calling the shots.

@sallymorganmoore Hi i'm wondering if Devs will address occlusion culling, environmental lighting bugs, shader performance in the next Update. My framerates have halved in settlements and stations from this update. Effectively making fps part of the game unplayable. It seems that renderer performance has not been addressed since launch. From reviewing independent graphic engineers analyst of odyessy renderer. It should be possible to double or triple the performance of the renderer. Would it be possible for devs working on the render to explain to the community the issues they facing with performance?

Hello! Definitely still paying attention to improvements in all of those fields still. We're sadly aware at the moment of FPS drops at settlements but the team are really working hard to further better things as we go into the next planned update. Will keep you all in the loop :)

@sallymorganmoore

Regarding the CTD's Commanders are experiencing. Are any Commanders who play EDO through Steam experiencing these or is it only Commanders who play though the ED client on their PC's?

If no one from playing through Steam experiences these then I want to transfer my account to Steam.

Seems to be predominently through Steam but there is a combination!

Whoever he's having a go at (FDEV includes all the employees) it is obvious that to fix what is wrong with the game is not going to be quick and easy. No amount of moaning on here is going to change that.

I wouldn't day that the map ssytem in EDO is better for a number of reasons.
1. EDH map remembers the filter you set and also remembers the route preferences even after you log off. In EDO this is not the case. You have to spend 2 - 3 mins adjusting the route filters back to what is was set to before logging off (after accessing the GALMAP and having to wait for the plot to complete).
2. The hold to plot route is annoying when trying to select a system rather than route to it.

These are just a couple of the annoying things about the EDO Galmap system that is sub par to EDH. The whole thing appears to be designed around knowing the system you wish to go to, however for exploration it is not very user friendly.

I want to thank the dev team and the community managers @sallymorganmoore for Update 6 and 6.0.1! Planetary tech is stunning and framerates are stable and did improve.

In Space 100 fps (capped)
In SRV 75-85 fps
On foot 60-85 fps
(GTX2080 Ti, Ryzen 7 1800x, 32 GB)

Look at those solitary mountains in the forground and on the horizon:

I've spent 6 sessions flying from the bubble toward Colonia (only 20 jumps left) and all of the filter and route settings have remained between sessions. As the DLC appears to behave differently for others players I'm not too surprised yours behaves differently.

Bugs. And they don't stop the system being better overall.

2. The hold to plot route is annoying when trying to select a system rather than route to it.
I keep hearing this, yet I have no trouble only selecting a system when that's what I want to do, and no trouble holding to plot a route when I want it. Horizons system was horrible because I kept getting "add bookmark" instead of "plot route" or "select system".

Now, if you're trying to select the system for an FSD injection jump, yeah, that's a little painful.
