State of the Game

My boss just sent me this in email:

In the write up I particularly like "Britain is the one remaining civilized society on the planet"....

Obvs....

😏
Well, its actually quite realistic- it remains 'civilised' because immigration is brutally enforced which has echoes of today really, and you see those effects filter down into a society that largely has given up hope. What I love about the book and the film in particular is that the situation and its triggers are so well realised.

From what I remember most countries fell apart out of despair really.

Another good book (and Sci Fi channel series) is an Arthur C Clarke story "Childhoods End" which has a similar premise and also uses several very clever twists.

I AM ABSOLUTELY SCREAAAAAAAAMING WITH TEARS LAUGHING AT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to have made you laugh on a Friday Sally!

It's true though, he only had two modes in the show, to either stare at someone like he was about to eat their mum, or to say something whilst wheezing out! I think this is why he left the show, he eventually had to go and get reinflated!

Plus, welcome to the crazy house! ;)

What about Frank Butcher?

Ah good old Frank - he was a big old heavy breather too!

Never underestimate the power of tea!

Always amuses me that our national drink synonymous with British equanimity is founded on Empire exploitation of India...
Unless you botch it.
Not an easy thing to do, but still... if your excuse for suicide is being a loser, it's doable.

EDIT: a propos botching... What post was I actually answering to?
