Milk in tea has been the way a lot in the former British Empire have ALWAYS drunk tea - and ham and pineapple pizzas are available from Aldi for like 2 quid. If that's pretentious then half of my council estate growing up were too

Do I really have to explain, that there are "some" countries in the world that had luck of NOT being exposed to the habits of peple from "British Empire" and can see some of them as bizarre and uncommon?

And that perception of what is pretentious is relative and subjective?

Well, I tried and loved some things that I considered disgusting as a kid (like seafood - I love most of them, although they look like ugly, underwater insects or mutated snails).
But somehow , after I tried tea with milk, now even watching them mixing makes me wince

And I like milk and dairy.
And I drink tea of course.

I was always taught to put the milk in first for tea.
Family were miners and dockers so used their fancy, thin walled set of tea cups for visitors that would crack if the hot tea was poured in first.

Modern pint mugs of tea are very forgiving so can go straight from teapot to vessel. I use a tea pot with integral strainer at home for loose tea, but work is a mashed teabag that I fish out and save for a second go a bit later.

Give it 25 more years and TV ads will be gone - i know not many of my generation who have a TV or watch TV at all. The reason for not watching TV are ads. i cannot even remember when I last watched TV, must have been when I still lived with my parents 17 years ago or so. I never owned an own TV set and see no reason to buy one. i do watch TV series though - ad free and in bulk - like 2-3 seasons in a single go. Ads steal lifetime, we shouldn't allow this to happen. Passive entertainment is in decline.

When I look at my current adblocker statistics, the current version has blocked over 600,000 items - 600,000 which didn't steal my time nor bothered me.

Being of the cohort that had TV as it's primary content source, the decline has been very, very depressing.

Having to leave google fiber is going to be a larger dark shadow over our new home purchase than one would think the internet service of an evil ad hungry corp would be able to cause.

Lately I started to disable adblocker on free, non-commercial sites I like and find useful and I know ads are important part of their budget.

That is not my problem - if they want money, they can charge for their services, if they think that those are good enough to get paid for it. Ads are stealing my time and I don't accept them - period. Our world is already polluted much too much with ads of many kind, this has to stop, it is a predatory manipulative attack, we are much too tolerant about them.
