what video card are you running? what temperatures?

Also from the game launcher you can try to go to Options / Validate Game Files and see if it helps even though it looks like memory artefacting

Does it happen only in Odyssey or are you having the same issue in Horizon? have you checked?

That's a hardware issue.
Your card is overheating if it's 10s after you start the game.

If it's a desktop PC when's the last time you cleaned and check the fans (or water cooling if your using that).

You can check the temperatures from Task Manager. Just run Task Manager, select the performance tab and then click on the GPU option on the left hand side.

This is not my gaming rig but you get the idea.

Looks like a graphics card that's either simply incompatible, or broken/overheating.

When I tried to play horizons on my old laptop when it first came out, the planets were giant spikey mad things, it was like some hallucination or something.

I get that sometimes but I think it is my old GPU. I figured this is anti aliasing or tessellation problem. Go to your GPU control program and set AA and tessellation to 8, this maybe at least reduce this occurring. I'm guessing you need lower settings to be able to play?

I am running two Radeon RX 580 Series 8GB each 3.60 gigahertz Intel Core i7-6850K with 80GB RAM on a MSI X99A GODLIKE GAMING motherboard Samsung 1TB SSD Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version HD with a Gigabit ethernet connection. I think my system exceeds the games requirements everything is running stock settings no overclocking. The game ran fine on Horizons it is now unplayable. I will try adjusting the Anti Aliasing and see if it makes a difference

You can't play Odyssey with crossfire or any duel cards, it will feel like a lag when you play. I used to run 2x R9280x and in Horizon I played with high settings with few options set to ultra. now with odyssey I had to disconnect one card and I run odyssey with one windforce r9 280x 3gb on low settings and it is playable. You should be able to disable crossfire in your GPU control panel, I guess it is Adrenalin.

Well that blows they need to fix that. I am playing Horizons right now and it runs beautifully.

That's a hint at a leaky rendering engine which is unable to recall vertices and positions of render elements. It's a subtle symptom of other side effects that lead to the bad optimization of Odyssey as well.

SLI support for under developed titles is a rarity, EDO is no different.
Switch to a single R580 and test.

Your card is be overheating if it's 10s after you start the game.

less egg on face if you direct end user to check their temps first before confidentially stating that "it is temp related" not in reverse.

I removed the secondary card and it seemed to be running fine for a few minutes. Then it would get one of the bars or whatever they are called and then another I don't even know what this problem is called. I don't think 57c is to hot for the card I just blew the dust out a few days ago. I really liked playing Horizons and love the way Odyssey looks but is really unplayable when it does this.

I had an old xps laptop and when the videocard was on its way out it did the same thing with crazy spikes from planets.

so, if you try other cards, same thing ?
you maybe also try to roll back on your driver.
when you do, let me know. if it will keep happening after you try 2nd card and you will change your drivers, I may have a bad news for you....
