State of the Game

Hehe... With luck, by the time you have grandchildren, your need for retribution will be so great that you will invite them to stay while mummy & daddy go out for the day, fill them with sugary Cola drinks and "E" numbers, then send them home fizzing... :devilish:

hard to tell how much about children being horrible is due to children....and how much is due to adults in regards to children.

like the rating of this game.. not caused by children... just stupid adults. but because of children.

I'd imagine most negative points about children for non-parents are really about parents or adults making rules around children than the actual parasites.

So, I was thinking the other day about this movie I saw at a drive-in theater as a child...

And then it hit me...Is this what FDev's plan was all along?

I mean,
  1. When we got legs, we also got cowboy hats.

  2. They just recently released JW2

  3. The reckoning is coming when Horizons will merge with Odyssey

  4. It looks like they're going to add on foot Thargoids

  5. They could just merge JW2 with Odyssey.
It seems like it could be great fun - Space Ships, Cowboys, Aliens and Dinosaurs - what a game that would be!!

would never work. You have too many players on the spectrum in both games for something like that to go well.

in elite, there are people more concerned with how the light refracts off the surface of a dead world with no content or gameplay than they are about not having anything to do on that world.

in JW2, they're pre-emptively flipping out over the size and shape of hypothetical fins and features of dinos not matching movies exactly.

i mean, sure, if fdev wanted to commit developer suicide in the most flametastic way.... that would certainly be an event.

chocolate: i dont think there is much variation between brands of dark chocolate if you're looking at just chocolate. if you're looking for something not expensive...just get something from dove...dark or not. hard to go wrong there.

though i dont like my skin breaking out so i hardly eat chocolate.

Bacon: what's wrong with bacon in the US? is it too delicious? Too perfect of a food that it goes with everything? or are we talking about the changes in standards for how pig farms operate getting implemented in california recently - driving the cost up?

they're (statements) not as negative and pessimistic / depressing as others in here who think the game is never going to improve and is stuck the way it is forever. I'm not pro-doom like that.

But this thread is the state of the game....and it makes sense that it veers extremely negative most of the time since it's a reflection ... not a driver of that state. So it's not that i only talk about negative topics.... just that positive topics rarely come up that are interesting enough to last for more than half a page because negative ones keep happening. The "what's new" list continues to be a sad list of problems....usually not just limited to Elite. Gone are the days of excitement trying to figure out mysteries or player groups role playing and power play being all active and amidst the background of pvp vs pve mode arguments. it's just non-stop bugs and doom ...and the thread reflects that ....as it should.

Oh embugger me - I must have written your name instead of someone else's - sorry I meant to comment on @Rat Catcher and his depressing outlook on things in life. Man that guy just never quits....

I thought that was just a reference to a possible solution to the retirement and referencing extremely old movies problem. Shoot old people into space.
Hmmm, reminds me of a series of books I read once by Ursula K Leguin (yeah I probably got the author wrong) where they had a "Grandparents in Space" program, humans genetically augmented with animal DNA and fake dinosaur bones buried in the dirt on the spaceship.

EDIT: It was Vonda N. McIntyre's "Starfarers" series
