Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It is actually deceptive, as it is worded in such a way that unless you have one of the linked ships, you are not invited...

Also, what's up with their emails? They look like they were crafted by a 7 year old using Publisher and pasted into an email. Whomever is creating these, apparently doesn't have the first clue of how to create an email in HTML format.
Of course it is...it's a ship sale...Ci¬G marketing department at it's finest ;)

Ooops, apparently the Xeno (not actually containing any xenos) Threat event is borked.

Hey all, the right people are on this and are working on a solution. Thanks for your patience!

The right people! Not the wrong people! This is progress!

Good thing things like this don't affect funding! Faith remains strong!

Come on...you didn't actually think it would work before the free-fly ended did you?

Welp, Ci¬G are on form as usual...can't even do events turning up late right

Yeah, but didn't they already run this even before, earlier in the year? Or is this a completely different Xeno (not containing any xenos) Threat event?

Xeno (minus xenos) Threat event report from SA

So I tried the re-worked XenoThreat mission today. This time they didn't cap the servers to 40 players so it was incredibly laggy. It really made it hard to shoot enemies at times as lag causes the enemy ships to stall and jump positions, which wrecks havoc on your aiming pips.

It was pretty fun, though, and they made an event that actually played to the gameplay systems that they've implemented. You are in a gas cloud with poor visibility and electronics interference that messes with your normal radar, so you have to send out a radar pulse to find wrecked ships in the clouds. You then EVA into the wrecked ship and shoot all the pirates inside, then use your handheld tractor beams to loot special cargo that has special transport requirements. After all is said and done, you form up with the capital ship and have a final big space battle.

Of course, it wouldn't be Star Citizen if everything worked without a hitch. After all the NPCs were finally killed at the end of the event, the capital ship decided to aggro the space wrecks, which are literally just geometry set pieces in space. Somehow the level geometry got a crime stat or something and the capital ship got completely stuck trying to blow up something that doesn't have any HP. This deadlocked the whole event and nobody got any rewards for it after an hour of effort. That capital ship is still probably shooting those wrecks, and will still be shooting them until the server inevitably crashes.
