Elite Dangerous Premiere Event 22nd November 2014 Discussion Thread

Smart casual means...

Trousers rather than jeans.
A shirt with a collar rather than a t-shirt with Iron Maiden plastered across it.
No tie
Shoes rather than trainers.

I take smart casual to mean:
- shirt but no tie
- plain jeans (no rips, fades, etc) or plain trousers
- shoes variable, but not sneakers

Not sure what I'll wear and not sure I care either ;) Something more comfortable than a kilt, anyway!

700?
Shouldn't be too much of a squeeze then. :)
BTW, it's decided... I'm wearing a suit & tie.

You disappoint me what happened to the rebel I used to know at university ;)

comfy boots (given we could spend a lot of the night walking/standing around), clean black jeans and polo shirt for me

I'm looking at it from the view point of the 'premier' night being more of a gaming company convention/showcase (aka CitizenCon, Blizzcon, SOE Live) rather than a film type premier

There's about 300 or so budgeted from the Kickstarter, but I think they've been releasing tickets at 50 at a time, so make that another 100. Plus no doubt a few invitees & press etc.

500 sounds about right. :)

Remember Kickstarter people can/will have a +1, so assume ~600, plus 100 post Kickstarter... 700.

Ditto :) Although I'll need to work on the footwear as I don't want to wear the formal shoes, but I usually wear steel toecaps for the Rugby, and they'll be a pain to take on/off at the airport.

It looks like my friend, who's Scottish and my plus one has persuaded me to be kilted too, as will he be, So that's four of us.

I think Kate won't know how to cope with so many men in kilts. ;-)

Dunno about Kate, but I won't - I love men in kilts! :D

Suddenly I've got "Evil Scotsman By Rockin Jock" playing in my mind, I'm not going to link it for fear of being shouted at by the forum police...

That's my regular wear.

This is a special & cherished event, therefore I'm going to dress to the 9s for it. Nothing wrong with making a bit of effort my friend. ;)

There were 156 possible backers qualifying for "launch party" tickets with a +1, however 19 weren't taken up.
So 137 doubled is 274 kickstarter attendees (some of which may not attend).
Add that to public sale and professional attendees imo should now be between 500-600'ish?

I'm hoping for a full sized cobra mkIII parked next to the SR-71 on the runway tarmac :)

OMG... (as the kids say)
...that would be sooo cool!

I make it:
145 x 2 (from the KS) = 290
+ whatever tickets were sold in addition
+ ED Ambassadors (minus any that already had tickets from the KS)
+ FD staff (+1 for partners?)
= ??????

So many familiar names from the Kickstarter & forums, seeing lots of unusual faces will be quite trippy.

I hope they provide appropriate name badges (because I know I'll appreciate it).
- (I was planning on making my own, from my forum signature)

I'll probably recognised CMDR Braben though. :)

B&B: Booked. (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...fast-Whittlesford_Cambridgeshire_England.html) 1.6 miles from IWM.
Excited: I would make a labrador pup look calm.
HOPING FOR FULL SCALE COBRA?: HELL YES.

40m of awesome. I'm not expecting to take a tour of the inside. So a well painted plywood she'll would placate me.

Why are you letting them off lightly? Nothing less than fully operational will do.
