Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Just correcting this, Australian citizens have always been allowed to return to Australia. The only condition is mandatory 14 days hotel quarantine on arrival.
Slight discrepancy with being allowed and whether or not the quota is full though.

A bit of irony for you...Australia now doesn't accept folk trying to emigrate if they have criminal convictions...it used to be a prerequisite
tbf, the original inhabitants didn't want them either.

Like Arthur saying its no good without gameplay loops. SC doesn't have interior gameplay loops, but people love it regardless.
A lot of people don't know how fun are those interiors' tied actions :
  • manually putting and tranporting boxes in cargo
  • managing parking of ship/rover/tank in cargo
  • transporting ship/rover/tank
  • transporting players
Those points are not real "gameplay loops" (except for tranporting boxes) but they are really fun game mechanisms.
In Xenothreat event, you have to manage a lot of boxes, you can't be efficient with tiny cargo space ships. And the whole first part of the Xeno event is only possible because of ship interiors : ship interior wreck with combat and boxes to get + player ship interior to transport those boxes to the station.

The cargo space is really an important place in SC and a really strong place to socialise.

"Fun". Manual box stacking. Parking stuff in cargo holds.
Definitely different definitions of the word "fun". Amazon warehouse workers must really love their job. Tons of "fun".
Because you have not tested it in game.
Have you ever played cooking mania ? MacDo workers must really love their job. Tons of "fun".
But for sure you don't find this fun if you only want to do pew pew and kill stuff in your games.

LOL, i wouldn't call manual loading and unloading as adding fun. I'm all for interiors, but not for busy work. If i wanted to stack boxes, i'd work in a warehouse.

Come on LA, I was making a point in favour of SC and you damn well ruined it. :D :D :D

Personally I love ship interiors. Its great to be able to walk through/around your ship, to be able to check the ship for damage internally and externally, just adds a lot (imo).

I would however add, it's even better to have maintenance jobs to do around your ship, fuel, oxygen, resources, damage repairs etc. Games like Space Engineers have maintenance you can do whilst the ship flies through space on auto. It adds to gameplay and helps the player stay really attached to their ship, get a bond with it, I think anyway.

Ship interiors (& legs) is, for me, an integral part of a space game, these days.

He says it's not fun while not having tested it. He has no clue. It's like saying throwing pointy things in a board is not fun while talking about dart-throwing or that Kobe beef is the same that regular beef.
Just try the first part of the Xeno event, managing those three types of boxes with a good team IS fun. It requires organization, coordination and a little dexterity. You can immediately distinguish the effective teams from those that are not.

While I appreciate the team based mission/event, it's the same as before. So long for "dynamic events" ! Having a solid base of dynamic generated missions would be more interesting IMHO, also would avoid having the whole server population located in that one place, which SC servers cannot handle. Instead it seems they are going for "fully handcrafted one-shots" and so far their track record is about 2 years to craft one event. Not really motivated in going into that one due to the repair/refuel bugs that will prevent me from reloading torps in the Retaliator. Again, these bugs were there for years now, and have never been addressed. Worse, we now have hangar bay doors bugs added on top of that...

They did try splitting the playerbase up with having the dynamic ninetails PvP focused event running as well as concentrating most of the PvE effort on Xeno-fart...however, the gankers decided they'd rather explode cargo ships than having to actually to fight eachother. Restocking is currently working...ship ramps still randomly break...desync is everywhere...and my interweb is broken until Monday...seemingly, the wire coat hanger fell off the mast and someone needs to pop over to the island with some gaffer tape and an old mop handle to re-attach it

Just discovered that there's a new alternative in Orkney for TVWS broadband services...practically quadruple my current net speed for the same price I'm paying now. Guess I'll be phoning them tomorrow then :)

Viking style broadband

Oh gods no. That's the last thing i want from ship interiors. And doubly so for how FD would implement it. Want to repair a part? Go to X and do Y and pray for the right spawn. Not sure how CIG will deal with it, i guess purchasable parts would make sense.

What i've heard about SC's planned implementation is that parts will wear out. Again, that's a big no from me. I don't want busy work repairing ship. I want to fly ships, not repair them. Docking, pressing a button to repair, that's what I want.

I'm more of the sort of person who just wants interiors for interiors sake. But FD have said they won't do that, and i fear their implementation. Which is why i'm quite happy for FD not to have it on their to-do list for the moment.

Back to SC, and time will tell.
