Game Discussions The No Man's Sky Thread

I'd like ship building as well. I'm glad though that they basically now have introduced "cities" in the game. It's one thing people have asked about. Especially, why do have have all these NPC aliens all over the world, but where do they live? There are no cities anywhere.
Yeah it's good, they do listen to players. But I really would like to see space and ships become a focus for them. Space is getting much better in NMS, so we need the ships now. What we have as ships isn't great.

I have used the same save since I started when it came out (normal). I got my ship not long after I started (looks a little like the Lakon9). I upgraded it and I stayed with the same ship. I like the way it looks and I tend to want to stick with a ship than jump from ship to ship, just feels better for me.
Old plodder, plodding through space or time, not wealthy, not skint, just etching out a living/life.

I hear ya'. They have already the perfect place for ship-mods in the space ports where you can do some upgrades and stuff. And I suspect it's not a huge hurdle to overcome when it comes to how the ship design data is stored either.

I went in for the first time in a good few months, just to have a look. Not really going to hold me in again, it's very planetside now. We really need ship building, or at least as far as they can go using the building tech they have, which is quite good to be fair.

I hope they introduce it at some stage.

I stopped thinking of NMS as a "space game" quite a while ago. Space is involved, but only really as a loading screen to get to the next planet. At least the way I play. 🤷‍♀️

I agree it would be cool if they focussed a bit more on it, but I suspect they'll have their hands full growing the dozens of planetside activities you can do.

I heard about the exotics, but they're rare I guess.
Not extremely rare. You have to focus on looking for them in wealthy systems. They show up at the space port now and then, or if you build a base and a couple of landing pads, you get visitors and occasionally an exotic. That's how I got my first one. (On one of my other save files I have only exotic. Took me a week or more to collect.) Just make sure you can afford it when they show up. And now you can buy ships without having to replace the one you're currently flying, if I'm not mistaken, so no worry about losing the old one.

Well, they kind'a have done some space stuff, like the occasional anomaly you can encounter, the traders, and not to forget the crashed mega ships (desolate ships?). And you find the living ship upgrades in space too. So there's stuff happening there, but it's not at all the Elite Dangerous feeling of space. It's more like the "in-between" or loading screen as you call it. You never spend much time in space.

I believe so - but it took me 2 weeks to realise I still had my other ship. It's not too intuitive. I'm not big on cash - building a base or settlement, that might fit into my interest. Just need an interesting place.

I've popped in to say how pleased I am that GOG is always a bit behind with NMS releases/patches, and how utterly delighted I am that Cyberpunk's !huge! update has jumped in the front of the download queue.

Yep. Great news all round.

😭

I agree regards thinking 'space game'. It was when it first came out, well I looked at it like that. Great planet to space seamless transition, lets be honest colourful space ;) and fly through asteroids, who could ask for more. :/
They have so much they could do in space and I think they probably will get around to it. HG look to be in it for the long run.

Games are becoming much more lengthy in development and I like that. SE, EGS, ED, SC, Kerbal, NMS etc. These are games that have been around and improved as they go along.
I play the Arma series, as many on here seem to do too. It is a game I love because you can stick with any iteration and the game just keeps getting better via mods or your own modifications to the game.
Its kind of endless what you can do with some games around, especially if a game is moddable.

Aaaaaand... two hours later... 'yay'.... now the NMS update can start...

Great news... I'm not even slightly frustrated... nope... not a jot..........

If anyone has an extra egg they want to give to a good home....
So I checked my inventory, and I'm sorry but I didn't have one. I thought I had stowed away some in the past, but apparently not. Sorry.

They cost 3,200 quicksilver from the quicksilver trader in the Nexus.

Yeah, did a couple of those missions, and kind of didn't do any more, too many other things to do in this game.
Thanks all the same.
I tried to pick up a quicksilver mission today, and it's not working for me. It's bugging out for some reason. It keeps on cancelling it before I even get to the ship. So strange. My favorite games hate me right now. Have problem with Elite Odyssey too, so bleh...
