Game Discussions The No Man's Sky Thread

There is one area where NMS can learn from Odyssey, and that is with heist missions. I took a heist mission from an NPC and thought to myself this was going to be fun. Unfortunately, all the mission involved was travelling to the planetary site, blasting open the doors while withstanding hits from two patrolling sentinels, and then running inside and pressing "E" to download the data. That was it.

This is one area that NMS still needs to improve: we need no-sentinel threats (NPCs) that can engage in gunplay with the player. How much more fun would that mission had been if there were patrolling NPCs willing to shoot it out with the player, including being able to have running gun fights inside the complex as you try to find the right terminal, etc. I was hoping this new update was going to bring something like that to the table finally. Oh well.

Anywho, just a screenie of me standing outside of the heist location. 😛

I have to admit to being sucked-in to NMS again. I had not played it for years and then when FD spoiled my perception of Elite with Oddity I had a peek back into NMS. Now I am spending hours per day just mucking about without really knowing what I am doing, restarting time and again just to get the hang of things. I have not looked at the latest settlement-building side of things, in fact I have not even learned how to get Atlas-passes again yet! I did try to look at some of the NMS yootoobs but I just couldn't stand to listen to the voices of the uploads that were offered.

I hesitate to get sucked into another forum so I'll ask here - on the Artemis "thing" when asked to triangulate using booster thingies - my third destination icon is stuck right in the middle of the sphere hovering above an observatory's control panel - no matter what I do, wherever I "build" the booster I never get offered the triangulation option. (I never had this issue in a different start a week or so ago, now abandoned.) So is there a way to abandon or re-start this Artemis thing? If I have to restart a new game again I will but I'd rather not as I have some good stuff in place now.

Thanks for any pointers.

I think this is a bug introduced in Frontiers unfortunately. I've not restarted yet (waiting for the weekend), but I have heard of a few weird issues like this.

Couple of things to try though without restarting your entire save:

1) Fly up to space, and then come back down to the planet to try and set the 3rd destination point again. Sometimes a different planet instance can help.
2) Restart the mission (you'll have to do the first two triangulation points again, but no real biggie). On PC, you restart it by holding down the middle mouse button. Not sure about console, but it should be visible on screen when you hover over the mission in your Log.

Beyond that, best wait for 3.63 and see if that fixes your issue (do other stuff in the meantime).

Just a suggestion, but if you're on PC you can use this mod that's just been released... cuts all construction timers down to 10%.

Personally, I don't mind waiting (building and running a town I guess is a long-term project thing), but if the timer blocks annoy you, there is at least a solution.
On console thanks.. Dont even have 3.62 yet..

Still no support for coop play, yet they keep adding features which seem ideal for it. I’d love to defend/manage a settlement (or a base or a freighter or XYZ) with my friends. On my own, not so much.

They do say in the release notes that you can place blocks anywhere, even in mid air.. Don't like that idea much, unless they give us thrusters or something to keep them up there. Getting into Dual Universe type physics, not good.
Problem is there's no flooring, but dust is being kicked up as if there were thrusters all over the place.
