Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

All the current items in the personal inventory as it is now...including ship upgrades not already fitted to a ship etc... are to be stored in your personal hangar. It's to bring the personal hangars every ship comes with when purchased, online. That said, I can't remember if the hangars are coming online with 3.15, it may be later.

On first login to 3.15, you'll be asked to chose and confirm your spawn location, not only for placement of your hangar(s) but as a hospital respawn location should you die. Personal equipment such as armour or weapons and ammunition can also be permanently stored in any of your ships. The downside to that is if you die and your ship is destroyed, you'll lose it all.

All paid for personal armour sets and the like will be restocked automatically at your hangar, stuff bought in game will be lost and need to be repurchased with aUEC in game....either that or you fly out, find your corpse and assuming nobody has robbed it, pick up all the gear you were carrying when you died.
Did CI-G just invented stash from Diablo 2 and dead body from Diablo 1?
Holey moley, it really never been done before 1996!!

They could do a wipe of inventories without wiping ships. Its not rocket science. Its just involves crafting a DB procedure to do it.

How many times over the years have CI-G demonstrated that they have absolutely no idea of even the most basic DB curation?

Remember when players logged on to discover their "fleet" contained all sorts of goodies they never "owned" and couldn't even use?

Remember when players logged on to use their "fleet" only to discover that the client could not transact with the backend and absolutely nothing was summonable?

Remember when CI-G themselves announced they could not match players paid accounts with transaction history and recover "missing ships"?

Remember when CI-G themseselves admitted they could not execute refunds as their financial records-keeping could not correlate players paid accounts with their payments processing and the product "delivered"?

CI-G have a recorded history of probably best not let near any database functions. I'll bet real cash that some of their own internal systems depend on Excel as a database.

Did I say it was unique? Can't remember mentioning it at all. Loads of games use this system so it's no real surprise Ci¬G decided to go down this route ;)

I was speaking from a technical point of view.

Now, the question is, are there still exploits? Will there be new exploits? Will people have their fleets back quickly?
We won't know until someone finds some new and improved exploits in 3.15. As for getting fleets back...the only fleet anyone will be keeping through all the wipes still to come is if they're daft enough to go buy one from the RSi store :D

Speaking of star citizen,

I don't see the SC community as self-hating in general. Still seems largely full of people who believe CIG will deliver on a good releasable game one day and generally positive.

Of course, definitely toxic to those who dare to speak out against the prevailing narrative.

ED's forums have become salty over Odyssey, but that will change over time. The sallty will eventually leave, others will remain and be more positive as FD implement improvements. It will of course remain somewhat critical, which is no bad thing, and better than what generally goes on over in SC land.

You could say that at least chris roberts didn't run off and use your money to build a completely unrelated game publisher......

Neither did FD. They are a company with multiple franchises and they sold their products and used profits to grow the company. They invest their own money into production of games and then sell them. Elite 1.0 was mostly funded with FD's own money, not backer money. Its quite possible that without those other games making profit that FD wouldn't have been able to reinvest that profit into developing ED further.

Speaking of star citizen, have you noticed that the elite forum community has become precisely what we so hate about star citizen...

A toxic self hating community, material delusion about the "positivity" about running software, strung together by marketing messages that are coldly player tone deaf and pro company image, finally with no practical hope to be made right on the software side. Both games in complete limbo.

You could say that at least chris roberts didn't run off and use your money to build a completely unrelated game publisher......
Robbers ran off with the money he enriched himself on by skimming off cash with multiple director jobs in a net of subsidiary companies. While still not delivering a product.

Right. Well it may be a difference not everyone picks up on, but anyone who is rude and derisive of other people in the community can in no form what so ever claim to be "positive" about for game. That's beyond ironic, its messed up.

Even when i had no experiences to check regarding elite, i found it offensive when people did that. To be being positive is helping people around their issues or problems, not the rubbish that happens here daily.

If any developer is not meeting standards or doing right by players, if its fact one doesn't have the right to check it. Because its fact. But at the same time i did and do acknowlege that its the internet and extremists do exist and will continue to do so... if only developers would remove / reduce the need for it.

I haven't bought it yet :) Having said, if star citizen is indeed shaping up, i like to look at it like the pyramids, a few millennia later we're looking at it in wonder, not ever knowing about the corpses of the mud pit backers who came and gone, giving up on misleading promises, but leaving their money so that people from another age can appreciate what it is.
