Hey, question for anyone who did this before: If you finish in the top 10 it says that you can suggest a name for one of the stations - is someone going to contact you somehow about that?

I finished top 10, and didn’t use a carrier. I did have the benefit of getting going in it early on, but everyone had the same option.
Yeah, same - no carrier since its tied up somewhere - also finished in top 10. I also started a bit early, and stayed up for the last 50% of the CG. I'm not actually sure the carrier was much faster to be honest. The main things it saves are the 2000+ Ls trip, but it has the downside that you have to dock/undock twice as much which takes up a lot of the time.

This is a much bigger problem than FC bias or Cutter envy.
Many people only have time on the weekend.

I'd love CGs to start a day later, on Friday evening to run comfortably into the weekend!
Let's see how you feel about that one when they mess something up in a CG that goes live late on Friday and we're all sat here twiddling our thumbs over the weekend until they fix it on Monday, at which point nobody has time to participate because the weekend is over :D

Butter bei die Fische:
assuming playing in Solo and having the ability to evade NPC interdictions.
One ton of thermal whatsits would have netted you 25k.
A shieldless cargo sidey costs you 23k max (less if you start from the loaner Sidey) and nets you 16*25k = 400 k per run.
So that first run in a Sidey is almost enough to buy a shieldless, otherwise stock, cargo Cobra III. That one will get you 64*25k = 1.6 MCr. per run.
The first Cobra run lets you buy a T-6. That will get you 2.8 MCr per run.
Now it gets a bit steeper - the next step up would be a T-7 at ~19 MCr, i.e. ~7 runs in the T-6. Once you've got the T-7, though, you're alse excluded from those close by medium pads.

By the time you got the T-7, you've done 9 runs and delivered 16+64+7*114 = 878 tons of cargo. I'd put the first run's profits into an A-rated FSD. In order to reach the 2200 ton goal, you'll need 5 runs in that T-7 in total, so 16 runs overall. Taking the aforementioned 10 minutes per run, that's three hours. 4 hours if you need 15 minutes per run.
Reasonable.......... 5-6 hours with breaks.

Let them work the whole weekend, them lazy buggers !
😜

It finished way too early, this is massively unfair and clearly biased against people who didn't get the result they wanted. Also, why haven't I gotten my stuff yet?!?!?!?
I am sorry to say this but my friend and who have both played elite since it very first started will no longerplay this wonderful game if we don't get our modules today
We have talked at length about this and this our conclusion.

I went for thermal cooling units for this CG, not because I needed the money, but because I was curious to see how much profit I could rack up. 22 million for each Cutter-load, multiplied by 12 runs is a quite decent amount of money, and even transporting this in a Type 6 or 7 would make most new players rather wealthy in a matter of hours.
I went for speed versus profit, so focused on computer components since I found a source within one jump that was just a few ls from the main star. 4,750,000 profit per haul. Was kicking myself afterwards for not hauling thermal cooling units when I had to switch stations. Would have netted a half billion, and while I don't need the money, it's a nice chunk of change I left on the table.

Yeah same, didn't read the fine print and filled the carrier with 10k computer comps. Would've made Elite I in trade with thermal cooling propably.

I consider a ragequit or at least a stern open letter.

Well the good news is that the thermal cooling profit/ton wasn't even that high - like 26K or so per ton.

There's plenty of days where you can find similar free market trading opportunities, and some days you can get 30-40K profit/ton.

For example, right now the top route on: https://inara.cz/market-traderoutes/ is:

PROFIT PER UNIT 42,682 Cr
PROFIT PER TRIP 30,048,128 Cr
PROFIT PER HOUR 120,802,706 Cr

It's not that I need the money or ranks, but it annoys me a bit that I didn't look right (I blame the CG thread where the numbers are ???),
and lost an opportunity.
But to be honest, my annoyance is quite limited over three super FSDs (where are they FD???!??!!??!!!????) :D
