State of the Game

And I lold reading your house as 'neutral ground' for family events!
Unfortunately, or otherwise, its the truth. We can't plan it for anyone else's house because then somebody else won't go.

EDIT: You know that old saying "You can pick your friends but you can't pick your relatives"?. There's a reason its that way. If we could pick our family, there would be many individuals without families....Now you know...

I love it when a flan comes together.

Excellent wordplay sir, good form!

Not at all mate - I laughed because I totally understand - my family has always been like that too, from my parents generation upwards, so as a young child our house was the neutral ground. Things fractured more in my teens though so things like Christmas were always over two days minimum, spread between parts of the family that didn't like other bits if you know what I mean.

So please don't think I was taking the pee - it was a total laugh of empathy for knowing how hard it is, especially for adults. Quite frankly I think you deserve kudos for hosting, but please don't think I was mocking you, absolutely the opposite!

I didn't think you were mocking me (never crossed my mind)...life is strange some times, well, usually...so I was just elaborating for anyone who may have been going "Huh?"

In this case it's actually my wife's family, since my nearest blood relative is 400+ miles away, but my family has, at times, actually been worse...though there aren't many of the "old guard" left these days...

Coolio - the internet doesn't help with explaining things at times!

But it is weird how families feud and become puerile over rather trivial things, at least in the case of my loony family!

As you say it is sometimes difficult to get the cohesion - although my grandparents have moved on now. But I never see the family of my father's siblings which is sad. I also haven't seen my sister or nieces for nearly 3 years now, but that is mostly due to covid really, as they live in MI.

Anyway, families are weird, but I admire you facilitating the family gathering, it's a good thing mate :)

This year there is apparently a feud going on over borrowed, but not repaid, funds...

Thanks! Family is valuable whether we want to believe it or not...

I tried twice, both are massive star wars/sci-fi fans but they just couldn't get into it
tbh i dont really blame them, credits are too easy, missions are samey, engineering is pointless and there's nothing new

i dont really know why it has the pull on me that it does, just something about flying around in that ship doing bits n bobs, i even have an alt account in a sub 12lt jump range sidewinder half way between colonia and sag a, literally just jumping, honking and scannng, every system is virgin and i still pee my pants a little when i stumble across an ELW
the chance for a virgin system is even higher in NMS, I rarely come across a system, where someone else has already landed on one of the planets - the discovery tool shows discovery by someone else already with the first ground contact on foot, i.e. landing there and disembarking. The difference to Elite is that there is something interesting to find on any planetary body, even if it is considered lifeless. To me that makes a huge difference, in Elite the excitement ends at the border of the inhabited bubble, the rest out there is basically barren rocks with nothing to do on them - Elite is so lackluster in content and opportunities gameplay-wise - it might be more realistic than NMS, but reality in the galaxy is boring gameplay-wise. I just know this since I started to play NMS, what a difference that is gameplay-wise and as well the idea of games as a service is much more covered there - firstly there are several expansions a year and I found as well that bugs, which I reported, have been fixed rather quickly - this is why I won't play Elite again - it is not just the lack of interesting gameplay (imo), but as well lack of service - FDev is failing in this regard as well - and now they seem to have lack of commitment as well.
