Ok it is official. We are doomed
Ooooofff- being reported as:

Dinosaurs aren't quite what they used to be – at least that's what the latest figures from one British video game maker suggest.
Frontier Developments slashed its revenue forecasts for the full year, sending its shares crashing more than 38pc in their biggest one-day fall ever.
It came after the firm said sales of its latest title Jurassic World Evolution 2 had been lower than expected, despite a positive reception from critics. It also warned of "more muted" sales of its space-themed Elite Dangerous: Odyssey game.
Analysts at Citigroup described it as a "disappointing update", saying they expected it to be poorly received.

It was surprising they pushed out a game related to a film that's not out for 9 months. Amazing that the handful of dino-nerds demanding the new game don't translate into mega-sales. (And I'm sure there's a few like Leo and myself that bought the first and aren't bothered enough to want more.)

Ah well, that answers the question of what all the salty threads will be for the next few weeks :)

Why I wonder did FD release it without the inertia of the film?

When the film does come out all the bugs will be gone but......do FD need that money right away?

It will be interesting to see how having EDO sucking time to bring up to spec, JPE2 underwhelming hinders the 'springboard' FD do between game franchises (since I presume so far everything has been successful up until EDO).

I imagine the conversation went "EDO is below targets - we need to make some money and JWE did really well (and JWE2 is already scheduled for this year). Push it out and maybe it will beat expectations and we can avoid scaring the markets".

Maybe this is the reason they pushed EDO early as well - ideally JWE2 would have been delayed to 2022 to match the film - but they could only do that if they had revenue this year from EDO ... so they pushed EDO before it was ready.

But instead they've pushed out a game merchandising a delayed film, so that by the time the film comes out the game will be old & widely discounted. And EDO is already being discounted in sale periods, even though it isn't even out on consoles yet. So they've lost even more. Sometimes you gamble and win, sometimes you don't 🤷‍♀️
