Well, FDev is currently massively overpriced (PE ration >30) such a ratio is just acceptable, if there is hope for the (nearer) future - which just went down the drain due to their inability to make this game work like for example NMS - FDev is struggling with a few features on the ground, just imagine what a disaster this would be with content like NMS has it on planets. So console versions won't happen before the next financial report - they cannot even make it work properly on PC, so what hope is there for consoles then?

When the film does come out all the bugs will be gone but......do FD need that money right away?

The film was initially scheduled for release late '21 but has been pushed back to June '22. Pandemic scuppered the release date.
Apparently, it's sitting ready to go as well.
If they were to wait, the sales would probably suffer due to the summer, so xmas may have seemed the best alternative.
Just my thoughts on it.
