Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I think i figured it out, don't run in and out of the ship, walk up and down the ramp, its what i have been doing and have not had one blow up on me since.

No that's not an excuse for a bad bug, its just a solution until they fix this crap.

Unfortunately, it's completely random if you run, walk or crawl up or down the ramp. It has a lot to do with how solid the ground physics are or the in game 'GPS' thing for placing objects tied in with server lag when streaming other assets...as far as I can work out. It's more than likely to happen on uneven terrain but can also happen on a completely flat landing pad. It happens with ladders, ramps, side doors and cockpits...for some reason your avatar exiting or entering a vehicle sets it off no matter if it's a ramp or not. It's less likely to happen with elevators, like in the Connie...but it happened to Badger and me last night in his Andromeda with the front elevator 🤷‍♂️

There are signs sometimes that it's happened or happening...sparks from the bottom of the ramp, smoke or sparks inside the ship as you enter/leave or when you reach the cockpit several parts of the ship will have sustained heavy damage on the 3D damage indicator on the MFD or HUD, usually strange bits like engines, turrets or wings. Sometimes the ramp will refuse to close or will be sluggish when coming up. It's definitely a physics grid thing...but what puzzles me is how Ci¬G managed to break it...

Don't know, but i have done a lot more 45K box runs in the Pikey and Titan now that my 48 hours loaner are up on that adorable little shuttle and i haven't had any of them blow up or get damaged since walking up and down the ramp.

I also wait a few seconds after the ramp has extended to let it settle before exiting.

I did that for a ton of box missions in the Cutty black. It was fine until the server got tired then as I walked up the ramp with a box...since you can't run with one...the front wings and one of the rear engines on the Cutty exploded and flew off. I chucked the box and legged it out of the ship just in time before the whole thing went bang. What my video of the other night didn't show was Chimmi's C2 exploding just after us lot drove out of it in the Spartan...then of course a few seconds after Huggy opened the external doors from the cab of the Spartan, the damned thing blew up. Only Pants, Chimmi and Yak made it out.

lol.... i shouldn't laugh but.... :D

I remember when they first put in environment force reactions in, at that time ships had a similar problem when landing, sometimes they would blow up.
I was at a surface outpost watching Oracka land his Cutty, which landed ok but on walking through the ship he got to the back of the cargo bay when the ship blew, the force of the explotion launched him out the back of the ship like a missile, it was like watching a cartoon scene, it had me in stitches. he landed about 100 yards away from the ship and survived, just.

I think you may have touched on something there...since there's times when the servers are bad the player force reactions go kinda nuts and you fall over all the time for no apparent reason...that's usually when the ships start exploding. I bet it's the environmental force reactions tied to your avatar that's damaging the ships...not micro-vibrations.

Edit: This feels too much like the ETF Discord server now :D

Landed the other day at Arial (Bezdek) purchasing Larantine. Whilst landing I saw smoke coming up from the front gear. The cargo door opened and closed without problems. After coming back and opening the cargo door, the door got stuck at 3/4. Couldn*t jump up. The cargo was worth 120k. Picked up my ROC at the Landing Services and jumped from the roof of the Cat to the cargo door. After landing in AREA 18 the cargo door opended without problems. I have to say that I did a repair immediately after landing.

Yay, a prediction :)

Between next year's CitizenCon and IAE, CIG is going to explode.

Always possible my friend ;)

The madness that will happen at that time period will know no bounds. Because, if I'm correct, they will announce Squadron 42's release... for the next year. And they will release the first version of Static Server Meshing. Salvage... and.... ummm.... err... oh gosh, what do you have... umm.... You have Salvage.................. ummm....... Salvage, anddd... um.......... The the.... rework of... gosh what am I thinking about? The rework of... the rework of cargo. Possibly even repair and re-arm. Working tractor beams. So we're gonna have all of these things happening around the same time. Within, probably several months of each other. Like two or three months of each other. It's nuts! CIG, they could make 10 million in that month alone. 10 million in the months of October, November, in those two months alone. It's going to be massive.

And he goes on...

CIG is a lot more cautious in terms of their predictions than they have been in the past. Two things have happened recently. One, CIG actually hired some people who are experienced in project management, fairly recently. Two, Jake's taken over the roadmap [IE the fan-turned-CM], and since Jake has taken over the roadmap it has been, there's a lot more information out there, so it's easier to tell what CIG are doing. And CIG seem to be a lot more dialling in their predictions. This year has been a lot better. I would say they've hit 50% of their goals from the beginning of the year. (?)

It's a bizarre world where all of this horrendously delayed stuff possibly arriving amounts to carnival time. But I imagine he's right about dollar pinyatas exploding at the screen ;)

Welp, after reading it, I certainly wouldn't mark that incoherent drivel as journalism regardless of the subject matter...it would be a stretch to describe it as joined-up writing. I take it you find it interesting because it happens to mention your three favourite discussion topics on Star Citizen?

A) It's cost $400m
B) It's not out yet
C) It mentions Chris Roberts making any one of an extensive series of ill advised statements back in 2014 which have turned out with hindsight not to have been truthful...

:D
You forgot D) It references the Wing Commander Movie. The author missed a trick, though, not mentioning that the crew had to keep silent, less a nearby Space Ship, in the vacuum of space, hear them! ;)

This guy has been with SC for a long time, correct? But he speaks as if there had never been a single teeny tiny slippage or hiccup in CIG´s road maps and plans? I mean, not even a single concession to the remote possibility, as unbelievable as it may sound, that there may be perhaps some issues with that deluge of great hopes? Either he is really delusional or he is just gaslighting to prop the current free fly and promotional period. I have actually seen a number of Spanish community SC "lead" figures doing something similar. I would need to don my tin foil before suggesting all this is coordinated though, there is probably no need.

His last segment was kind of muddled, but he was essentially acknowledging CIG's terrible roadmapping there. I think.

His grounds for optimism are a bit bizarre though. They seem to boil down to: Turbulent. And his mate Jake doing CM stuff.

Seems pretty shaky grounds to go full hallelujah on SQ42 and salvaging. But hey, even a stopped clock... ;)

CIG have never done that before! /s

Perhaps he's getting a little nervous and really beginning to hope against hope. Guy has aged a lot since i first saw him stream.
